A Bargain Hotel by the Beach

Reviewed 23 july, 2022

It's often difficult to put together an affordable beach vacation. But Villas Miramar made it a lot easier. Our room was right on one of their pools and had a large bedroom and small lounge area along with lots of counter space and a small fridge. We brought our packed cooler and coffee maker and set ourselves up without needing a kitchen. As many have said the decore is dated and a bit funky but the a/c worked great as did the ROKU and internet.. The poolside restaurant serves breakfast and lunch and the bar is open until 4pm. The beach was across the street from our part of the hotel while the other part has an ocean view and pool w/bar. We spent our days on the beach and found numerous good restaurants within walking distance each night. Though the beds were a bit lumpy I would happily return to Villas Miramar for the great location, price and service.

Good for the price.

Nice hotel in a decent area. Get an ocean view room. Nice Malecon for a stroll. Pools ok. Rooms ok but dated. Would definitely stay here again. Ok happy hour. Front desk staff very nice and helpful. 4star.

Disappointed...theft & kitchen was run down.

Reviewed 21 february, 2020

Kitchen in our suite is getting very run down and all appliances were dirty & rusty and there was a shortage of all utensils. The cleaning lady had stolen from me and I found her holding my wallet which had been well hidden, triple zipped in my suit case in the back of the closet, all in a matter of minutes of leaving the room. Frustrating to get accountability from management when it was reported. Over the following days we learned theft had happened to others in the hotel in the previous few days and in the prior months and nothing had been done about it. Overall staff are friendly and helpful, they've repainted the outside and the location is good.

Not like it used to be

I first stayed at HVM in 93 and have many, many times thereafter. It’s always been one of my favorite places. This year however, the cosmetic changes are hideous. A huge tarp in the bar area traps the heat and doesn’t keep the sun out. Management has staggered tables in the grass area where one can’t sit in lounges to enjoy the beautiful view and the tropical breeze. The solid black bar and surrounding walls certainly don’t add to the ambience. The tiki torches are the ultimate tacky feature. Bring back our Miramar we love!

Great location but ants in the room.

I hate to give negative reviews but don’t want others to experience the same. We’ve stayed at several price comparable places along La Madera Beach, so I’ll opt for another next visit. Most places will offer you at least a small bottle of drinkable water upon arrival, until you can get to store to stock up, nada here. We then noticed small sugar ants all over our room, which worsened as we stayed. These ants are harmless but creepy! We hesitated to complain about the ants, for fear a pesticide would be used in the room we’d be sleeping in. The ac machine in 106 is so LOUD, I couldn’t sleep. Our second night, we kept ac gong til bedtime, then shut off, opened screened windows & used ceiling fan only. It was better but since the overnight temp stays in the 80s F, pretty hot & sticky! The staff here were friendly & great, the restaurant bar had cold Victoria & great guacamole....
