Quaint b&b in pretty town
Avaliou em 10 de abril de 2022
We had a great 3 night stay here, the room was very comfortable and plenty of space. Lovely house and very friendly owners. We enjoyed the daily breakfast, and had an evening meal on two nights which was amazing, such lovely home cooked food. The area is lovely, and we enjoyed the local town plus days out in Lens, Arras and St Omer. The large supermarket in the town was great, not as large as the hypermarkets at Calais and St Omer but pretty good! Great location for a short break coming from Uk via Eurotunnel or the ferry.

How could you not give 5*!

En route to Calais we stayed at the Chateau for a single night. We’d managed to stay in excellent mail contact with Francis prior to our arrival, and actually as we arrived we were met at the door. The Chateau is a wonderful place to stay. No, not a Hyatt or Waldorf, but you’re not paying those prices, instead you are getting a unique experience in an old Chateau full of eclectic furniture, spiral wooden stairs and peaceful tranquility. Our room overlooked the garden to the rear and other than a dawn chorus was totally silent. Breakfast in the morning was a buffet, but made better by a supply of fresh croissants and breads on the table. Our hosts were fantastic. Conversation was easy and we were made to feel very at home. Would we stay again? certainly yes we would. As we were welcomed on the doorstep on our arrival as we departed we were waved off.

Overnight stay for shopping

We stayed intending to do a food and beverage shop at Cite Europe. Chateau is very well placed for embarkation back to UK. Cedric and team looked after us very well - a warm welcome and practical advice - we ended up shopping at a huge Auchan at St Omer thanks to Cedric. Of note is that our friends who came in their own car found their car wouldn't start next day. Cedric was incredibly helpful carrying out lots of calls with numerous Covid staff reduced local garages and car assistance: - friends had car fixed that morning. Good value accommodation, dinner and drinks plus enormous room with modern bathroom. Thanks Cedric and team!

Our return to Scotland after a year in Italy during the pandemic had us driving across France with our elderly dog. We'd heard the Chateau de Moulin le Comte was dog-friendly, and it looked lovely from the photos. Before we arrived, I got in touch to let them know that we'd be bringing the dog, who would need various tests before we could bring her into England via the Eurostar car train, plus we would also need to get Covid tests ourselves. Francis and Cedric, our hosts, did the enquiries and made both appointments for us. When our elderly dog found the circular stairway challenging, Cedric even carried her for us! There are a lot of beautiful places to stay in France, of course. But I'm not sure there are any where the hosts are so willing to go out of their way to help guests with scheduling and personal issues. We stayed for two wonderful nights, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Between our various covid-appointments, we spent a day in Saint-Omer as well, and particularly enjoyed our picnic in their lovely Jardin Public.

Arrived on a wet miserable December day and received a warm welcome from Francis and Cedric. Room was very spacious, overlooked garden and we had a lovely bathroom. Beds were extremely comfortable, plenty of hot water and excellent heating system. I thought chateaux were cold and draughty but we were really warm during our stay and the extra layers of clothes were not needed. Breakfast was self service and very plentiful. Everything was fresh and delicious. Our dog was also made very welcome and allowed to go everywhere. She loved playing in the sea and on the sandy beach at St Cecile near le Touquet. Should we be driving that way in the future we will be stopping there again.
