Hotel sold recently and staff lacks training - poor check in at front desk - managers disparage employees They offer breakfast but 9/10 breakfast opened over 20 minutes late Outside by pool not cleaned regularly Stayed here numerous times - no where near what it was Kaitlin is the one exception re: service

The suite is stocked perfectly. Literally everything you need with exception to groceries & whiskey. The front door to your suite is in a short hall behind another door adding additional privacy. Very comfortable bed, lots of counter space, cabinets. Incredibly well thought out design. High water pressure. Wine opener, cozy couch, freezing cold AC. Only concern were the several signs warning not to leave valuables in the car. Overall A+. Would definitely go back!!
Very comfortable place to stay in SW Austin

We spent three nights here during a recent visit to Austin. The room was great and the staff was friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was just average (hot food wasn't hot) and the amenities for the kitchen in the room were VERY minimal, but other than that, we have only good things to say about this place. It's also very conveniently located right by a U-turn under US-290/State Hwy 71 for when you're heading east. We enjoyed visiting the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center (only 10-12 minutes away) and had a nice tour of Austin by AO Tours from the Visitor Center in Austin.
Poor in many respects

Looked forward to our stay based on past reviews. We had a different experience. Check in was terrible. No complimentary water offered as gold members. Asked for a room opposite the freeway. After assuring us it was, turns out it wasn't, not once but twice. Third time we got one. The elevators are at one end of the building. Of course we had a room at the opposite end. Not sure who designed this place, but very poor planning. The couch in the room smelled like a wet dog. Coffee maker was plugged into a non working plug. AC was pointed right at bed so the fan was quite loud every time it went on. The bathroom door hits the toilet when you open it. No fan in the bathroom. Maybe the worst thing was the fact that when you washed your hands or took a shower, you couldn't get the soap off your body. The water left a residue, likely due to the water conditioning. The pool was not heated and was freezing. Hot tub was OK. Breakfast was standard fare, nothing special, but that is the norm at these places. Bed was nice, but not nice enough to compensate for other shortcomings. BTW, they don't do evening receptions like they once did. This may be a newer property, but it's going to get old quickly.
Great location as base for touring Texas Hill Country

We stayed at the Residence Inn Austin Southwest for three nights in mid-November 2021, using the hotel as our base for daily adventures into Texas Hill Country, which essentially surrounds the area (except for the city of Austin located to the east). We had originally booked our stay at the AC Hotel Austin Hill Country, but the construction delays that have been exacerbated by the pandemic meant that the AC wouldn't be having its grand opening until after our stay. My wife and I are both Marriott platinum members, but we usually stay at more upscale hotels or the random Fairfield Inn or SpringHill Suites when we just need somewhere to stay located close to where we need to be. In other words, this was our first Residence Inn stay in forever. Our room had two queen beds and was truly a suite, with a separate TV and sitting area outside the bedroom separated by a door and a fully equipped kitchen, including a refrigerator and a microwave in addition to a regular oven and stovetop, not to mention a kitchen table with four chairs. The hotel had its usual breakfast offerings each morning, which is included in the price, and additional food offerings each evening. As an added Covid precaution, we took our breakfast each morning back to our room. The staff were all very helpful, and the property is in very good condition. Once we lost our AC Hotel reservation due to its delayed opening, we looked at major chain hotels located in Hill Country, and we saw many very mixed reviews. This hotel, by contrast, had almost uniformly positive reviews, and for good reason. It was also easier to see many different parts of Hill Country from this hotel's central location in southwest Austin. And it is very close to plenty of food choices and an H-E-B supermarket is a short drive away if you choose to stock up and eat in. Lastly, our hotel room faced the highway and the parking area (free parking) at the front of the hotel. Thanks to what must have been soundproof glass, we barely heard any noise whatsoever from outside.
