Totally unethical and money-grabbing

This hotel treated us terribly. We are STILL waiting for our money back for a booking that should have gone ahead in April. As we were prevented from flying because of COVID-19, we notified the hotel in advance so they could re-book our room. Rather than sympathising, or appreciating us keeping them informed, they kept our money and told the booking agent it was our choice to cancel. They have shown no understanding. We even suggested they give us a voucher or date for a booking in the future, when COVID-19 restrictions were lifted, but they told us we'd have to pay them even more money - effectively three times the price of the original room! So to date, they've kept our money, re-let our room and offered us no compensation whatsoever. I'd advise British travellers to avoid this hotel group like the plague.
I am happy with Magic Hotel Xhibition. Thank you !

· The room was very good. I still think of theirs bed. I had such a good sleep. The room wasn't very big , but i was not expected to be, because I choose the standard room. We had mountains view and the hotel location is the best. All the attraction are located less than 10 min walking from the hotel. The train for airport is located 5 min walking.
Comparing with other hotels this one has a very good price.
We had an issue with one of the key, because i keep it next to the phone and the other one we forget it inside. It happen later in the night, I called them and in 10 minutes someone come to open our room. 10 stars for this service ! :-)
Disliked · There was a club next and we could hear the music but wasn't too laud, we did not had any discomfort.

Having stayed in at least 8 Scandinavian and Central European hotels over the last 8 weeks, I must say the Magic Hotel Xhibition is the least impressive. It's often a negative indicator when a hotel provided ear plugs. . . apparently the construction outside was the reason. Entering the hotel via a shopping mall can be a little disconcerting as the route is a bit odd. There is an air freshener machine in the hall that exudes a very strong, perfumed scent making the air far from fresh. The bathroom is curved and consequently gives up space that would have been appreciated! Breakfast is not included at this hotel while the Scsndic hotels provide a fabulous breakfast at about the same room rate. Sorry to say I would not recommend this property.
Great location, lacks comfort in many ways

Now, before I write anything, I need to say I am not surprised to read the three recent reviews that appeared in the sidebar as I opened the page. And it only proves my opinion will not be a stray one.
- super convenient location for walking tourists
- modern looking bathrooms with large shower space
- quite patient staff
- poor interior guidance
- poor email communication (which could be used to solve the problems to find the place)
- very small toilet space (my guess is that an overweight person might find it unusable)
- no proper luggage storage to use after checkout
- feeling of being a problem guest, taking too much of receptionist attention
Unlike many who found that place too noisy, I wasn't hit by that particular problem - it was mentioned in the confirmation mail, but I would have definitely been troubled by this. I don't think I have seen a mention on the booking site though. Therefore
HINT: noise-sensitive person? - better avoid this hotel.
My biggest source of discomfort was the check in procedure.
The hotel shares the building with a shopping center. The shopping center is clearly marked so you have no doubt you are in the right building, but where the heck is the hotel in there? There is no proper, clear interior communication to guide you. I had to call the receptionist to help me find them, and they were kind to navigate me through bakery and flower shop using the cctv.
HINT: For check-in, take the main entrance (at a bus stop), the use the flat escalator (on the 2nd floor) to get to the reception. Once you have received your room card key, the side entrances are a convenient shortcuts.
The room looked modern, clean and sturdy. I might not be a fan of pink color, which is used here and there, but for a couple of days I can take it as a slight deviation from my taste.
The bathroom held a shower, a sink and a toilet. For me, a private bathroom is the main source of comfort, but I imagine some people could find that specific bathroom uncomfortable in physical sense. The sink overlapped a bit the toilet space which reduced the space. For an overweight person this might incur inconvenience. I had to move toilet paper to a more convenient place in order to be able to reach it. On the other hand, the shower part was quite spacious. Divided by a big piece of hardened blue glass, no classic curtain.
I had some problems getting the lights off for the night but at the same time retaining the power on so to charge the phone and camera. It worked for me one night, but didn't another - even turning the lights off, the backlight lighting (from behind of the mirror and other elements) remained on. Could be me, could be a sequence in which you have to switch the things on and off. Just make sure to observe the charging status on the devices you expect to load during the night, before you go to sleep.
I had my departure day on Sunday. This is a day where shopping malls are closed in Norway. I left my luggage with the receptionist. They don't feature a proper dedicated storage. On Sunday you won't be able to use any restroom should you need. Better go to McDonalds or Espresso House.
After I spent some time in the city, I needed to call the staff up to let me back into the building to pick my suitcase as I didn't have my room key anymore (there is a Mobile Key app where you can store your key, but formally I wasn't the guest anymore after the checkout time). The first time I called, the staff was not at the desk. Again, that feeling of bothering someone...
Would I book this hotel again? Not sure (risk of being troubled by the noise)
Lot of other problems could be easily solved by proper communication if the hotel care.
