It's Revitalized Grandeur Has Faded. It's Now Quite Grungy.

This was a hotel stay full of disappointment. Metered internet, shadowy, dimly lit, dirty glass doors, bad odors, extremely noisy patrons, room door barely locked tight, stained/faded sofa in room, food and drink establishments inside closed-- you name it.

Worst hotel experience of my life - seriously

I was super excited to stay at the Lafayette. As a Buffalonian who nows lives out of town, I had heard about this hotel and its history for decades, so when I booked a trip in November, I knew where I wanted to stay. I booked three nights and looked forward to it for six months. Fast forward to early June. I've provided a detailed experience below: - We checked in on June 10, around 4:30pm, and were told there was a prom taking place that night, along with a wedding, so there were no rooms with a front view. Odd, since we made our reservation so far in advance. Obviously, others were put ahead of us when it came to a view. - When we arrived at our room, #203, multiple lights were not working, a bedside lamp was missing, and the toilet was dirty (see attached photo). - I immediately went down to the front desk and told the girl. She advised that while we were out to dinner she would look into the dirty toilet issue and have maintenance fix the lighting issue. - We got back about 3 hours later and nothing had been done. - Maintenance arrived about 15 minutes later and advised there was nothing he could do about the missing lamp or the dead overhead lighting, but could replace the bulb in the side table lamp. - During this time, teenagers from the prom were SCREAMING from room #209. I once again went down to the front desk and advised. This time, the girl was very rude, seemed a bit irritated, and said she couldn't help with something she didn't know about. I advised that since she now knew about it, she could do something. - About 30 minutes later, after I heard another guest complain to maintenance in the hallway about the out-of-control teens, there was a loud conversation in the hall with the teens being advised by their chaperone that they were not allowed back to the prom and they were the hotel's problem. - I took that to mean that they were basically now our problem and any hope of sleep that night was not going to happen. - With the filthy toilet, no password-protected wifi, no on-site parking (even though their website says there is), makeshift lamp solution (see attached photo), and the terrible noise, we decided to check out at approx 10pm, advising the front desk that we would NOT be paying for anything. - We ended up losing $8 in parking fees, had to pay over $800 for another hotel (Hampton) since it was such short notice, AND we were charged $203 by Hotel @ Lafayette!!!! - When I returned home, I emailed TJ Loveland (the GM) and advised him of the above, assuming he would not only refund the $203, but also pay for the parking, provide some compensation for having to spend another $300 on a hotel, and profusely apologize. What happened? Nothing. He never responded. I then reached out to Wyndham and they advised that the $203 charge was appropriate and there was nothing they would do to compensate us for our time, trouble, and extra money spent. I've sent the issue on to my credit card company for them to handle. I GREATLY warn anyone from staying at this hotel. Be sure to view the photos! One is of the filthy toilet and the other is the hotel's answer to proper, safe bedside lighting. Maintenance literally left the lamp like this.

Gorgeous rooms! I would have given this 5 stars; however, this hotel has unsecured internet service and it lacked an instruction booklet listing the hotels amenities. Had it had a booklet, we would have known about their awesome piano bar. We stumbled upon it when we came back to the hotel late at night when it was getting ready to close. That was disappointing for they had a jazz trio and an awesome bar. Room service was not offered nor was there a refrigerator in the room. All in all we’d definitely stay there again now knowing what to expect.

Great hotel

This hotel is beautiful and in thee core of downtown Buffalo. You can walk pretty much anywhere you need to go. But if you don’t want to leave the hotel there is lots to do within the hotel including the piano bar and attached pub.

Super cute boutique hotel

I obviously saw pictures of the hotel/room online when booking but it was way cuter in person. Room was quite large as was the bathroom. Hotel hallways were super wide as well which I think helped keep noise down.
