It was my first visit to Campbell River and I was impressed by the hotel standard. Though it's a 3-star hotel, it delivers in every aspect - clean, comfy bed, quiet ac, good insulation and friendly service. I will not hesitate to stay here again when I return to the city. Hopefully, I will get to enjoy some hot breakfast at the hotel.
Pleasant short stay

We stayed here two nights before doing a multi day kayak tours off Campbell River. It was really just two nights and one full day. It was adequate for our purpose. The location was close enough to the Marina. The room was clean and big. Shower hot, bed comfortable. Check in was quick, front desk staff was nice, parking was easy and free. The breakfast was bagged due to Covid and no hot food was available.
The only problem was no dining was available. For some reason many eating places in Campbell River was either closed in Monday or fully booked / packed with people. We ended up having fast food for one day and eating at Coast hotel nearby.
For the amenity I think the rate was a little high.

By the time I got around to booking our stay in Campbell River, there weren't a lot of options. Lucky for us, I selected Comfort Inn & Suites. Very clean and comfortable. Nice beds, lots of space in the room and again, very clean which is important during these times. Great selection of breakfast items which you selected and a staff member brown bagged for you. RV at the front desk was so nice and very helpful. Great customer service. We didn't use the pool or gym, but they had a nice system of pre booking times so the number of people using the facilities were limited. My only suggestion would be to have an extra small table in the room by the lounge chair.

Waterfront is close but not that pretty. Nice walk if that's what you like, but you have to cross a busy ish street. Convenient enough location, could have walked to a number of different places but driving was easy enough. Restaurants and pubs and convenience stores nearby. It was nice enough inside the rooms, clean and big bathroom, i would stay again if i was in the area.
Some good, some bad.

This hotel is in a great location! On the waterfront, about as near as you can get to the Quadra Island ferry terminal. It’s an attractive enough hotel, staff are polite, and covid safety protocols are good. Parking is right outside the front door.
My room was comfortable and pleasant. The bed needs to be replaced, though: while the sides of the bed were comfortable, the middle of the bed was kind of raised up. So I guess the sides of the bed have been squished down by the weight of guests’ bodies over the years, but the middle part has not.
On the first night of my stay I was kept awake for about an hour by somebody walking around in the suite above mine. This seemed to be normal walking - nothing crazy or malicious - so I think that the sound-proofing between floors is a little lacking.
There is a desk thing and an office chair. The ergonomics here are a problem, though. If I raise the chair to its highest setting, it is still not high enough! My forearms are not parallel to the ground when using my computer, because the desk top is still too high. So my hands are then significantly higher than my elbows, which leads to muscle strain. Fortunately I had a portable laptop stand with me, which I used. If I had not brought that I would have been unable to work on my computer during my stay.
There was no safe in my hotel room, which left me wondering what do do with valuables while I was out.
Access to the hotel’s wifi network was frustrating. After connecting to wifi, my browser opened to the hotel’s Facebook page. It looked as if I would need to log in to Facebook to continue! (I was able to bypass this, but many users will not realize they can do so.) The hotel wants guests to log into FB and to ‘like’ the hotel on FB. I hate this. I don’t use Facebook and I don’t appreciate being dumped onto FB just so that the hotel can get likes. This is a key deal-breaker for me. I will try to stay elsewhere next time so that I can avoid this.
I like this hotel. Friends who are local to the area recommended it, so I’m not sure there is anything better in Campbell River. It is certainly adequate, although my experience with the Facebook thing, the bed, the desk/office chair ergonomics, and the noise were troubling.
