Mostly excellent!
Took a last-minute hiking trip to PDC and my friend booked us a room here. We were both very impressed with how seriously the staff took Covid: their protocols were very serious and were followed completely, for the most part. We saw maids enter rooms to clean (after guests had left) walking down hallways and entering rooms without masks. Otherwise, I felt very safe, pandemic-wise. The staff were all helpful and friendly, too.
Disappointed - front desk, cleanliness
Being a long time IHG rewards member, I usually try to stay at Holiday Inn locations. The location in Canyon, Texas, was a disappointment. I called the front desk before checking in, and Mike assured me that the breakfast area was not restricted, and named off the many choices available. The next morning, the poor gal manning the breakfast area had to repeatedly apologize to families for the blatant lies made by the front desk (obviously I was not the only person who asked in advance). The bathroom in our room was not well maintained. There was no soap in the bathtub dispenser (they do not supply bars of soap), and there was mold and mildew in every corner of the bathtub/shower. Additionally, there was something brown near the faucet. When I raised the concern upon check out, I was told that I should have informed them earlier. The hotel was not willing to take ownership of the cleanliness or supplies in the rooms, but wait for a guest to raise the concern. Don’t stay at this location!!
Nice place and friendly staff
This was a pit stop on our way to Colorado. We were greeted with the most sweetest staff member. In light of Covid they went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. Rooms were very clean and the beds were the most comfortable I had ever slept in. Also, AC worked wonderful!!! My only issue (which is super petty and not really an issue) was there was only one elevator and it was very small. We used a luggage cart to help bring our luggage up and when getting off on our floor the space was VERY small. Other than that I have no complaints.
Great location to go to Palo Duro Canyon state park
Super friendly check in man in the evening. He explained because of covid 19 they were not offering their traditional breakfast but a bag with a piece of fruit and a cranola bar. He asked if there would be anything he could help us with and gave us some additional coffee. Young lady the next evening was equally as pleasant asking if there was anything she could do for us. She got us some additional towels since we didn't want housekeeping. Rooms were very clean and well appointed. Very quite with a comfortable bed and nice furnishings.
Deceitful
Did not tell us online breakfast was not available. Did not tell us at the front desk. Did not tell us coffee is not served. Stated people will touch machine. When i went down stairs they put up signs on breakfast menu changed and served only raisen bran but I am milk intolerant and the kicker is you had to touch the refrigerator door if you wanted milk so why not coffee...Lazy people! Also get this they only stock in your room a quarter of a roll of toilet paper. States people steal it. No! people pay for it when they rent the room! If you are rashening the paper then issue it at the front desk so you can control it but dont be asses about it. Did not tell us this either. I'm sure not all HI's are like this but this one is scum baggin it! To bad it takes from the Housekeeper because of this we did not tip! Also stated no rooms on the first floor. Lying F's lied about that too! Hard boil somes eggs next time cheap skates!
