a longtime favorite now has problems

I've been staying at this property off and on since 1986. That's right, 1986 (different hotel name and owners then). Since becoming La Posada, I've had many very enjoyable stays in the funky historic rooms, splashing in the pool, drinking lovely margaritas at the bar. La Posada, what happened? Was it the corporate buyout? My husband and I stayed here again in mid-October 2021 and it was very disappointing. First, we tried to book through the hotel website but apparently ended up over-paying through some insistent third-party website. Then when we arrived, we were informed about the additional $22 "resort" fee. Resort? Seriously? This charge is apparently for the amenities that pretty much any chain hotel gives you for free: access to the pool, and breakfast. It's basically a scam to raise the price without raising the price. Oh well, we figured, we're here, let's try to enjoy it. We were given a room that faces busy Oracle, and the traffic noise was absolutely deafening. The beds were comfy, but I was disappointed to only have a walk-in shower rather than a bathtub. We tried to visit the pool, and the pool door was broken. Once we got into the pool area, the pool was lukewarm and full of bugs, as was the adjacent hot tub. Oh well, we figured, there's this apparently fantastic breakfast coming. Well, the breakfast did have a lot of variety, but quality was minimal. Essentially this was the same self-serve styrofoam plate type of breakfast common at chain hotels. The "bottomless mimosas" (touted as justification for the resort fee) consisted of a small water-server type container placed on the bar - if I hadn't been told about it, I never would have seen it. I tried a "mimosa" anyway and there was no liquor in it that I could tell. I will say that staff were very nice and extremely apologetic...but that only goes so far. Also, FYI, there were no masks in sight, anywhere. So, La Posada, despite the many happy memories I have at this place, we will likely not be back. Last week's experience was extremely overpriced for what we got. We would have been better off down the street at the chain option. You need to either seriously fix all the problems and ditch the bogus "resort fee," or lower your prices to be more in line with the quality of services you actually offer.
An Absolute Scam Motel

This is an old run down motel that calls itself a resort, at least they charge a $22 resort fee. The rooms are noisy, water pipes tapped all night. They expect to be paid in advance, no refunds of course, even on multi night stays. The only make up rooms every three days, but fail to make this clear on check in. The room is small, the entire bathroom like a closet. Even the metal front door, which faces out on a parking lot does not shut properly. The front desk person was rude when I requested a lean up, and it was not going to happen.
It's a scam on tourists who soon leave town and have limited recourse.
The price of the room was ridiculous for what you get.
Avoid this motel at all cost.
Disappointing and way overpriced.

This hotel was disappointing. It is very dated. The room even smelled old. The pool was full of bugs. The internet was very weak, and the tv didn’t work well either. The rate we paid was completely unacceptable for that property. The grassy area for dogs was nice but the property itself was not.
A little disappointed

Went there planning on staying for two night to explore the Tucson area. We got there hot and tired. Our room was fine but one of our group had reserved a handicap accessible room. When they went in it wasn’t an accessible room. The front desk said because of Covid since we had entered the room they couldn’t change it tonight. The bathroom was totally inaccessible with a wheelchair and it took great effort to help this person reach the shower. We left the next morning and went elsewhere.
Teezed me in with the First Class Breakfast with bottomless Mimosa, daily newspaper ...

If I get the pictures to download, I will not need to explain the "Teeze." rooms are adequate, bu finishes rough. Beds are soft. Relationship with Gringos restaurant is source of breakfast. Mexican food dinner was OK, bar service was very disappointing. Probably the worst Marguerita of my life.
Well, no pictures, but if I tell you about styrofoam plates and flimsy plastic ware, that is probably enough!
