Good location, staff very helpful
This hotel is one a very few in this area that is open all year. Nearly every other hotel closes mid to late September. My wife and I had what was described as a Standard Seaview Room on half board. The sea view was actually a side view from our balcony, which faced onto the wall of a neighbouring building, but yes, you could see the sea. The room was also quite small. If I returned to this hotel I would ensure that I had a front facing room, no doubt at extra cost. I did ask, but they were all taken. The hotel has a pool and a small bar, with the restaurant being one flight up, but there is a lift. There were a number of wheelchair-bound guests. Free to use cycles are also provided, but you do need to check them before use. As might be expected, some are better than others, but they are free after all. Buffet breakfast provided for most tastes, with eggs cooked while you waited and to your requirements. Breads, jams, yoghurts and all the usual accompaniments, including a large variety of cakes. And the staff in the restaurant soon got to know individual preferences, which in our case meant that there was a pot of tea and a capuccino on the table as soon as we arrived. Italy is renowned for good food. They certainly know how to make pasta and pizza. Soup was also very good, but I'm afraid what is termed 2nd course, did not inspire us. There are no vegetables with the fish or meat dishes, just 3 or 4 oven baked chips and a small lettuce leaf to accompany the dish, and that was often cold. When will these places learn to use hot plates!!! Placing a thin slice of cooked veal on a cold plate is less than appetising. Having been fortunate to have travelled to many different places around the world, my wife and I love Italy, but on this occasion we felt that this four star hotel did not quite meet our expectations. As we are not beach people we cannot comment on Bagni 12, which is a section of the beach reserved for hotel guests, with the usual rental charges for loungers and umbrellas. The hotel booked our taxi for both from and to Rimini airport at €45 each way. Journey time was about 25 minutes.
Honest Review from Travel Professional
First of all I would like to say that I have worked in the travel industry for over 20 years and have travelled worldwide. This was my 3rd visit to Cattolica but my first stay at the Park Hotel. I booked a 'Renewed Sea Facing Double Room' but when I arrived the room was far from renewed, it was clearly very old, tired and dirty. I immediately informed reception that I had been allocated the wrong room but I was told it looked like that due to it being the end of the season. Obviously, there was no way I was accepting that so asked to be changed to another room. I was then shown to a 'Superior' room. I would not class this as 'Superior' but it was definitely better than the first room. It did not have the front sea view that I booked but I decided to accept the change. Also on arrival I asked where the FREE parking was and was shown to a garage that was a few hundred metres away from the hotel. I had no problems with parking a bit further away from the hotel UNTIL at the end of the stay when they tried to charge me 25 Euros for this 'FREE' parking. I of course refused to pay this. The breakfast was also very poor with very limited choice unless you like cakes. I definitely will be going back to Cattolica but will not stay at the Park Hotel again.
Very friendly staff and ideal location
What always makes a great experience is when the people you meet are friendly and helpful. For sure the staff at the Park Hotel made our experience very enjoyable. The hotel itself is 5 minutes walk to the city center and 100M to its own private beach. Most of the guests were Italian so logic would say that it must be good. I would recommend this hotel for a relaxing beach vacation.
Best Hotel in Cattolica
We love this hotel, the food an all the people there. Mario and Massimo from the service and Fabio from the beach are great! Nice and quiet rooms. Best place on the beach in whole Cattolica with big beds and a lot of space to the next.
Early spring visit
Great hotel at a time of year I’ll admit was very low season. So almost all other hotels were closed. That might have explained why there were no tea/coffee facilities in the room. We did however get a room with a huge balcony with a sea view. The room was nice large and clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom again clean and well equipped. Breakfast was a buffet it was huge. Plenty of choice and freshly squeezed blood orange juice.
