WOULD GIVE ZERO STARTS IF I COULD

I was desperate for a place to stay, yet not desperate enough to spend a night sleeping there. There was only one person on staff, and she was part time so she left pretty soon after I checked in. I was the only guest staying there, the front and side doors remained unlocked at all times so who knows who could come in (especially if no staff is ever present). The rooms and hallways were freezing because central heat didn't work, nor did the room fans. Finally when I got back from dinner and was trying to convince myself I could stay overnight and be fine, my door start rattling on its own like someone was trying to open it. No one was there. Pretty sure that place is haunted and I don't even believe in ghosts. I threw all of my stuff on top of one suitcase and just dragged it down the hall and stairs (elevator didn't work and water was dripping in it), to get to my car in one trip so I could leave that place as quickly as possible.

TERRIBLE Business

We made reservations online for 2 nights. We arrived, but no one was there to check us in. After waiting OVER 2 hours, we left and went to another hotel. We were still charged on our credit card, and STILL have not been able to get a refund! No one will answer the phone when you call. We are from out of state, so can't just stop in to address the issue. Supposed to be new Mgmt, spoke with him once and he was very nice, but that was over 2 weeks ago and STILL haven't received the refund.

This is the most piss poor ran business in our area they took my money and didnt have a room for me not only that but they said theyd refund it first it was takes 3 to 5 days then its 7 to 10 now its been 10 days and they dont answer the phone NEVER TRUST OR DO BUSINESS WITH ANY WALSH HOTELS PROPERTY

Staff is WONDERFUL! Hotel is clean, quiet, and so comfortable. Location is within walking distance to several places to eat, stores, library, and museums. Just walking through the town is a treat! Hotel has that old world charm you just don't get any more. Staff made our stay a pure joy! We hope to return soon!

Hotel convenient to Iola KS when all other hotels were full

this hotel is promoted as a renovated classic old hotel. In fact the property has been through many owners and has not succeeded in recovering its glory. Renovations were not well done and a shabby appearance is disappointing. visitor reviews are not to be believed. although clean, no staff other than the desk clerk was seen and then not 24/7. Ice machine only in the lobby of this 7 story property. Bathroom was clean but showing age and multiple coats of paint chipping and peeling. Travelers expecting at least some effort of recovering lost glory will be disappointed . Downtown location is no plus. Little in way of cafes. although some reservation sites mentioned free breakfast, there was none or any other refreshment. Extended stay seems to mean week long stays or more for construction and contract workers for industry in the town. It does not mean suites with kitchenettes as offered by many brand name companies( none in town, however. Un fortunately for city fathers, better accommodations are found on edges of town around new through highway.
