The Afternoon Tea Experience
Avaliou em 14 de Setembro de 2021
When the Williamsburg Inn shared they were not offering their afternoon tea at the time of our visit, I went in search of other options and found The Bread and Breakfast at Peace Hill Farm; through OpenTable’s experience tab and booked a reservation.
The day before the reservation, I received a call from Louise to confirm the reservation, and again the day of as the weather was not cooperating and she shared she had received several last-minute cancellations. A deposit was not secured when booking and after visiting, I understood Louise’s last-minute call. There was a lot of work involved and Louise was the House Manager who wore all the hats!
The historic inn is located in a rural area but is easy to find off the main road. Having looked at the reviews before booking I jotted down the directions. We never lost our navigational connection but the signal was weak. The ride out from Williamsburg was pleasant although it drizzled most of our drive.
We parked and walked to the front door where Louise warmly greeted and escorted us to the main dining room where she had set the table for just the two of us. Louise asked for our tea selection and after ascertaining that we were alone, I asked if I could take a look around while she finished preparations. She was honored. The inn was small and cozy. The housekeeping was meticulous! I see everything! There were no bugs in the screens on the porch or anywhere else for that matter. No dust bunnies, no dust period! The bathroom was freshly cleaned. With COVID, I had no apprehensions of being indoors. Anywhere you looked, keen attention to the smallest details was given.
Louise being English, prepared a proper tea. The tea service was one of my favorites. The quality was exceptional and could not have been fresher. It was apparent that everything was prepared that day. Louise added to the experience. She was engaging but did not intrude.
I cannot wait to return!
Peaceful and clean!

The B&B was clean; the bathroom beautiful, practical, & spacious. We loved the peaceful atmosphere, wonderful surroundings, delicious home-made afternoon tea, and breakfast. Louise was kind, hospitable, & such a delightful host. We can’t wait to go back!
A Proper British Afternoon Tea!

I surprised my wife, and we took the Aston Martin on a 1-hour country road trip from Yorktown, to this cute diamond-in-the-rough in Charles City! We were the only guests as they had just re-opened from a COVID hiatus.
Anyway, out afternoon tea consisted of chilled cucumber water and soup to start, followed by our choice of flavored teas, culminating in a stack of scones, cakes, cookies, and finger sandwiches. All of their food is produced locally, on-site!
The place is set-up to host micro-weddings, trail walks and farm animal visiting. There are 4 guestrooms in the main house and a neat little guest quarter, tucked away to the rear of the farm.

Forget being disappointed trying to get a Christmas Tea reservation in Colonial Williamsburg, being on hold to be told “sold out.” Call Peace Hill Farm for tea. Although well known for its bed & breakfast, its tea reputation is growing & the site is ideal for the distancing required during the virus. You will receive the traditional 3 tiered server with plenty of tea sandwiches, a scone with jam & cream, and desserts. They will put your leftovers in a cute box for you to take home b/c you will never be able to eat all the food they serve in one setting. Louise, our hostess, cook and server is from England & we are blessed to have such a lovely person here to bring us a fine feast! Thank you, Louise (and Santa) for a wonderful time. About 20 miles outside of Williamsburg, less than 45 minute drive. Bring old walking shoes and you can tour the farm and walk off all that fine food.

Three of us had tea/light lunch at Peace Hill Farm. Soo delicious! Homemade scones, sweets, 3 kinds of sandwiches, cheese or ham biscuits and a variety of teas to choose from. Gluten free or vegetarian options. You can be seated inside the Tea Room, dinning room, or outside under the shade trees or in the barn for larger groups! So relaxing and enjoyable. Get back to nature and enjoy the countryside. Our hostess was delightful and attentive. They also have farm to fork dinners and sell farm fresh veggies/produce, and wool. They have lodging in the renovated hen house. On going events on the grounds. An absolute charm!
