Adequate but Lacking Attention

I stayed here one night solo before a day of business, in spring of 2021. For context, I am an engineer/architect, and hotel design is a frequent element of my professional work. I have not stayed in any other hotels in Cheyenne.
I found this hotel adequate overall, but lacking in attention.
My guestroom had nice blackout curtains, but traffic noise from the nearby Interstate highways was continuously audible during daylight hours – to the typical degree. The room lighting was somewhat dim; there was no bright reading lamp. Activity noise from guests in the room above was quiet in level, but clearly audible; I could hear footsteps, shower operation, and even washbasin water flow noise in the morning hours. On the bright side, the guestroom doors do not slam shut; the door closers eliminate this common noise. The bedding was very comfortable. The exhaust air grille in bathroom was dirty with lint.
Hotel staff were satisfactorily helpful. But, I requested a drinking glass made of glass – not plastic – and was told that there was nothing like that available to guests.
The main reason I chose this hotel was because of the indoor swimming pool with long operating hours (7 AM to 11 PM). The pool is not as large as it may appear from the hotel’s website; it is 21’ x 33’ and up to 5’ deep. Nice enough, not big enough for lap swimming; the temperature was good. The hot tub was not really hot enough for therapeutic soaking. The shower in the pool area was good. Seven of the 39 lamps in the pool area were burned out. The exhaust fan for this area is terrible. It is located right next to the hot tub, is very loud, and has an annoying sound characteristic. The clock in the pool area had not been reset in the eight weeks since the start of daylight savings time.
Breakfast was satisfactory – the usual sort of spread. It was possible to eat an adequately filling gluten-free breakfast.
I felt that the price I paid for this hotel stay was too high compared to the quality of the facility. I paid more than for a standard hotel without a pool, and that pool area was sub-standard. In my opinion, this hotel needs to pay more attention to the details of its operation, and upgrade a few things in order to make the room price commensurate with its facility.
I do not commonly have work in this part of Wyoming, but if I do, I will be checking into some other hotel.
FILTHY FILTHY FILTHY!

Out of all the hotels in Cheyenne I regretfully chose this one. It looks great on the outside, great location and lobby is very cozy but seeing the room was atrocious. And I checked several rooms. The beds looked like they had already been slept in with wrinkled sheets, crooked and messy covers. When I see that, it suggests all the other things that housekeeping missed. I had to clean the room myself and was disgusted by the amount of filth in the room just from wiping down the surfaces (see pictures attached.) This is UNCONSCIONABLE during a pandemic! And at the cost of over $100/night! Everyone on staff from front desk to GM all blamed the young and inexperienced new housekeeper. They actually defended her inability to make a bed. Here's an idea... don't hire and pay someone who obviously can't! Or the supervisor picks up her slack. Although the staff was helpful and friendly it didn't make up for my discomfort. Getting the second night knocked down to "only" $100 didn't help either. And some of the front desk staff men could use a bath too! The standards of health and hygiene in this hotel are way beneath the bar. And in this day and age, dangerous!
Kungflu hindered this stay

I like Holiday Inn Express; I know what I am getting. I got most of it this time. Clean room, friendly people, security...Covid 19 meant NO BREAKFAST. They did offer to go bags, but we opted to find an open restaurant which turned out to be great.
Deserves 4 dots, great breakfast, super warm pool, perfect hot tub

We stayed here Jan 3, 2020. Got in late, asked for a quiet room, the wind was howling! Unfortunately we were on the fourth floor above the pool building which has a rubber roof with rocks and the wind kept that burping up and rocks moving so it was very noisy. We didn't realize it until we shut the room heater off to go to sleep. By then too late to ask for a different room.
The pool was really warm though - and of good size too, not one of these little micro pools you see a lot of now. The hot tub wasn't too hot either, just right!
Breakfast was the fabulous array that you come to expect at a HI Express & Suites. But no half & half for coffee - that was a little wierd. Breakfast area is large so can seat a lot of people at one time.
Beds were extra comfy and pillows are delightful - one of the reasons we pay a little more to stay at HI.
I'd stay here again.
