One happy night

The room was comfortable and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful. The best part of our stay was breakfast! It was actually real food. Not those pre-made omelets you get at most free breakfasts. They even had fresh cut fruit and chiliciles. Even the green juice was delicious.

Does the job

The hotel does the job in the sense that it is comfortable, clean, well located, functional, and with a very nice view over the city of Obregon. While the hotel doesn't have a restaurant, there is a restaurant literally next door that is quite convenient to eat or have a drink. However, I feel like it could do better in terms of service. For example, our room was not cleaned until 5pm when we stayed there, even though we had been out of the hotel the whole day. Similarly, I saw other guests that had to wait for more than 1 hour to get their rooms (even though they had arrived after the checkin time of 3pm) because of cleaning and room readiness issues. We also had to request every day for the same number of towels as were people staying in the room, every day, they would leave us with only 2 towels. Finally, as mentioned in several reviews, the elevators are very slow, that it takes 10 minutes to go up to your room and really discourages you to go back in case you have forgotten something.

Best in Ciudad Obregon

This is my favorite stay in Ciudad Obregón. The rest of the hotels are old and it shows. This one has modern, clean rooms, good wi-fi and pretty views with the big windows. Staff is very nice, also. The good: - Clean, modern rooms - Comfortable beds - Decent wifi - Parking The bad: - Breakfast buffet was crowded. Seating capacity is reduced, but even with that, the tables aren't spaced enough. There's no ventilation in that area. - I ordered room service and the restaurant (Santo Filete) included the tip in the bill. That's illegal at least in Mexico. Never asked, I noticed until the actual receipt was handed to me.

Excellent hotel for an overnight between Nogales and Mazatlan

I have stayed twice in the past year at the Holiday Inn Express in Ciudad Obregon, and I can't say enough praise. Each time I've had my suv quite full of things I've been moving from one home to the other, and the parking garage with 24 hour security is the best situation I've found between the border and Mazatlan, for my overnight stay. The front desk staff is just fantastic, and bilingual. Equally so are the hotel maids, parking guards and maintenance men that one encounters. All are quite friendly and attentive. Both times I've stayed, Jean Carlo checked me in and made me feel like I was a VIP guest! My king room was very large and the city view from floor 6 is pleasant. The bathroom has no oddities as do most hotels in Mexico... a very nice large shower with instant hot water... no strange steps up into the bathroom... large counter space... and: washcloths, hand towels and a hairdryer!! Many other hotels that I've stayed at in Mexico do not supply these essentials. There is a sign in the bathroom that you may call down to replace forgotten toiletries, which I needed to do (you are supposed to run down to the front desk but Jean Carlo kindly brought them up to me, as the evening hour was late). I can't say that Obregon is a charming city, but you won't need to venture out for dinner as the Santo Fillete Restaurant next door provided a nice atmosphere and serves excellent steaks as their specialty. My filet mignon was too much so I asked my waiter to wrap the leftovers I had sliced, along with some bread for a sandwich to take along the next day on my drive. As there is no fridge in the room, I asked Jean Carlo if my small takeout bag could go in the breakfast room's fridge overnight. He chose to put it in the front desk fridge where they sell waters, soft drinks etc... which was so helpful! Also I'd like to point out that the bed and bath linens are high quality and the a/c is excellent. The Holiday Inn Express in Obregon is one of the cleanest and most comfortable hotels I've stayed in, whether in the US or Mexico! The free breakfast is ample and excellent. All the other touches make you feel like you are in a 5 star hotel! Such a great value for well under $100 USD (usually around $75 with tax). My only negative comment is that I could hear a road noise from nver-ending traffic since this is on the main arterial road through town, but once the a/c fan goes on, it is more like white noise, so not a problem.
