TERRIBLE decline in service and condition

We have stayed at the Sleep Inn many times during our son's college time at Texas A&M. We are not picky travelers, and try to be as kind as possible. We understand that the past year has been a tough time for the hospitality industry, and we understand that staffing has been a problem due to a lot of workers being paid to stay home by our government.
Still, we are SO DISAPPOINTED in what has happened at this property. Despite advertising a "hot buffet breakfast", the place did not only have noting out, but they no longer even furnish coffee in the morning (other than the do-it-yourself option in the room). They also put a $50 hold on your credit card for several days in case they find something unsavory from your stay. Our room was relatively clean although the vent in the bathroom was very dirty and there was mold in the shower. There were plenty of towels and the abundant hot water. A lot of details around the common areas were not spic and span like before.
After I got there, I looked at the recent reviews on line. They are accurate, as the owners are definitely not staying on top of the manager. This was an awesome place to stay when we first came, but it getting worse with every stay. It is ashamed, because this was our "go to" spot when in town.

We booked two rooms at this hotel. Our friends a/c was ridiculously loud so they asked for another room The second room's a/c did not work at all. They ended up bearing with the noise. My husband and I were sent to a room where the a/c would not start (Check code 27). We asked for another room. After all the delay at check in, we had to throw our luggage in the room, turn the a/c to get cold and leave to a meeting we were attending in College Station. Upon arriving back to the room at 9:30 it was hotter than it was when we left. The hallway was cooler. When you stood by the door, you could feel the cooler air flow into the room from the gaping crack at the bottom of the door frame. My husband had a conference call so I went to the front desk again and asked for another room, this time with a/c preferable. We were issued a 3rd room, which had been occupied and not cleaned. The front desk clerk asked if he could visit the fourth room before we moved our stuff again. At a little before midnight he returned to the room we currently were in with keys for the fourth and final room. It was in fact cold, however the a/c unit was pouring water down the wall and into the carpet. Black mold was growing on the furniture, walls, carpet. It.Was.Everywhere. We were exhausted and decided to take sudafed and sleep. When we went to turn the TV on, of course the "brand new disposable to help combat the spread of Covid" remote did not work. I'm sure it was the same remote that the last dozen guests used. No TV for us. We were awaken by the "blackout curtains" so inadequate the the room was flooded with light. We got up. Loaded up and left as fast as we could. I honestly cannot believe that this facility has not been reported to the health department. I have pictures of the filth, mold and waterfall on the wall in room 813. I would not recommend this one to anyone that values cleanliness and healthy environments. I felt bad for the front desk gentleman. He did the best he could working for this shabby establishment.

We rented 3 rooms in what seemed to be a well-rated hotel. Beware!! All 3 rooms had visibly evident 🤢BLACK MOLD 🤢, two were inhabitable. My older son was downgraded from a King Suite to a standard room and when he got to this room it was filled with black mold so thick they couldn't be in the room. He went right back down to ask for a different room, and he was told there were none. He was told that he could leave and he would receive a refund, so he did. My daughter told us the next morning that her room was filled with mold as well and the sheets weren't fully dry. She toughed it out, but is now sick. I have tried to reach the manager but he isn't taking my call. He let me know through Bookingdotcom that no refund will be processed. My advice is RUN 🏃♂️RUN 🏃♂️RUN 🏃♂️RUN 🏃♂️RUN 🏃♂️RUN 🏃♂️ the other way! Oh - By the way, the main coffee machine is broken and no breakfast was put out either. You can tell one of the employees if you can find them...good luck!
Great stay, little loud

All of our usual hotels were completely booked and this was the nicest one we could find in town. At $95/nt it was a little high considering how far it was from city center however all the reviews I read were positive. We spoke with 2 different front desk employees and both were polite and efficient. The lobby look clean and new. Our room was 2 queen beds. It looked and smelled new and fresh. Everything was clean. The room seemed that it was too small for 2 queen beds. In fact it required turning sideways to get into the bed beside the window. During the night the bedding actually blocked the flow of the air conditioner. You have to be sure the covers stay smooth and flat so that the A/C can spread across the room.
In the morning around 8am we were woken up by the cleaning staff. They were talking loudly from one open room to another. They didn’t even seem to notice as we walked out of our room.
Overall this is a clean, new or well maintained hotel outside of town. If my usual places were booked I would definitely stay here again.
Hot room and cool shower

I have stayed at several Choice Hotel locations. Stay away from this one. The temperature was only 75 degrees outside yet the room was hot for two days of the AC continuously running. We set it down as low as it would go. The unit was simply inadequate. I heard two other people complaining at the desk that their rooms were hot. The shower was not hot either, it was warm.
Also we aware of their reservation change policy. I booked for 2 nights several months ago. I wanted to change from 2 nights to 1 night. They said they would need to cancel the reservation and charge me at the current rate for the one night. This was more for one night than my two nights combined! I even spoke to a supervisor but this is their policy. I will take my business somewhere else now.
