Different but it works!

Checked in online day before (took five mins) they emailed the electronic key and it couldn’t have been any easier! The most stress free check in ever. Usual key cards available if you prefer (so easy to do this yourself on iPad provided in lobby) Room absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Bathroom panorama can be switched off for privacy which is cool. Air con great. Comfiest beds in the world! Small issue- our room was not serviced at all (we stayed 3 nights) and I understand it was supposed to be serviced once during our stay. However, quick phone call to number on website and towels and toilet roll brought to room literally within 5 minutes. Also had an issue with safe, again this was rectified by someone coming up to the room within 5 minutes (even though it was 11pm). So, despite the lack of in person staff, there is clearly always someone on call and issues are rectified promptly. It would be easier if guests could WhatsApp. Breakfast is very good value, all juice €2, coffee €2.50, small selection of rolls and pastries again very reasonably priced. There are fridges with drinks and an honesty box/card reader to pay for other times you need refreshments. Free lockers on site which are big enough for a small hand luggage case at best. If you had cases im sure you could leave them behind the breakfast bar and they would be safe. I did miss the personal touch of a reception, for example being able to ask for local recommendations or bookings taxis etc. However, for the price we paid, the gorgeous room design, comfortable beds, very fairly priced breakfast etc, I would definitely stay again and recommend thoroughly.


Pleasantly surprised

We booked this not knowing about the fact it had no staff but with a little preparation work it was no problem. We checked in online via email sent a couple of days earlier. We received keys by email on day of check in and this worked smoothly. We had one issue with bathroom, we only received one large towel instead of 2, i messaged property on Booking.com in the morning and got a message back and it was left in our room during the day for us. Very near transportation, U bahn station. Very pleased with stay overall and will definitely be back.

"Dorm" rooms suck. Noisy, weird, unpleasant experience

My daughter and I stayed in one of the "dorm" rooms with 4 beds in Cologne/Köln. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was ok, but the second night the rain shower head burst, spraying black silicone threads onto the walls and turning the pleasant rain effect to a strange waterfall effect. Never in my life have I seen such a thing. The website photos show a nice looking pair sitting on colorful tuffets. The tuffets were there, but there's no TABLE in the room, which is just plain weird and inconvenient. Literally, no horizontal surface except the beds and the windowsill. There are 4 lockers, each with its own safe, a couple shelves and hangers, and towels. But there's no TABLE! Just about 8'x8' square of empty floor. No carpet, just hard, empty floor with two colorful tuffets. So, my advice is skip the four-bed room unless you're in a group of four and you want to play Twister®. Oh yeah, and there's no soundproofing, so every footstep in the hall, late night laughter and conversation from late arrivals, morons playing music with the window open in another room (for real, who does that?) at 1 am... Couldn't find a number to call on their homepage or contact us page, where you'd expect to find it, so I took care of it myself by going up and shouting at the guy. I mean, who does that?! Yeah, the "Koncept" needs work.


Good idea, doesn't quite work

In theory a good concept for a hotel however, it is not seamless enough to work with absolutely no staff on site to assist when things don't work. The room itself was lovely, good working AC, comfy beds. Check in via an ipad is a bit difficult to navigate but okay. The room is supposed to have in room Wifi which you can use to cast to the TV and watch YouTube however ours wasn't working and there was no way of easily contacting anyone to resolve this. There is nowhere to store your luggage either, something we didn't realise when booking. If they had even a couple of staff on site or at least a helpline, whatsapp or online chat for issues which need immediately resolving then this could work but otherwise I don't think the price is cheap enough to justify the lack of service.

ok, so I have been to many hotels in my life. Let me tell you that this small experience of 4 nights was more than enough for me to tell you that I will NEVER go back to that hotel again. We arrive at the hotel tired from 18h travels, no1 in sight. We looked, waited and nobody never came. We tried to check in through the online system available, it told me my room was not ready (which is ok). I then wanted to leave my luggages somewhere in order for me to get to my work meetings. LOL. I called the number indicated on the machine (which BTW does NOT have whatsapp, so whoever doesn't have another option like calling through an app or directly is screwed), and they kindly told me that there were cabinets near the bathroom in which I could put my stuff but I would leave my stuff at my own risk. So I go, the cabinets are obviously too small for my luggages so I had to leave them there in the open for anyone to steal. So we come back at night, the whole room situation was solved (the machine was not giving us our key). We get into the room and all is good for the first day except I just need to mention there is no fridge or phone in the room. The pillow oare terrible for the next. They are as high as mountains. We went to work meetings, came back and to our "pleasant" surprise realize that the cleaning of the room wasn't done. So I msg them through whatsapp this time, and I am told that it's written on a sticker in the bathroom that the cleaning is done every two days. We wait the next day, no cleaning was done. The third day, we went to work meetings, we come back to the hotel tired from our day. To my new "pleasant" surprise, the bathroom was cleaned, towels were changed but there was one my tshirts on the floor of the bedroom, the beds were undone (yes, they were as we left them) and it "seemed" like the floor was cleaned except that, when I looked properly, there like dust balls in the corners and hair all over my mat near the bed. On that same third day, AC wasn't working. I msg the guy the same time for this issue. He gave me a new number for the hotel and told that if the AC doesnt work by tonight, then we could change rooms. AC wasnt working so I naturally called the second number only for them to tell me that he couldn't do anything at that time and no rooms were available for us. We had decided over the phone that someone would come the next day and if he couldn't fix it, then we would change rooms. Then the next day, AC still doesn't work so I call again. The guy comes and tells me that for him, the AC is working. (It wasn't working at all, it was ventilating but not cooling). Anyways we finally gave up on changing rooms because what's the use, we were leaving soon. Breakfast is not an option for the rooms. There is however breakfast available (payment by card only) from 7 to 10 AM in the lobby. This is the only time, you will see someone there LOL The philosophy: You are on your OWN. Period. Want to know the funny part? I got an email after my stay for a "free upgrade" but the links to the website do not work. hahahhah This hotel sucks. Even if you gave me 1 week free there, I probably wouldn't stay at it. Thank you NEXT.
