Hotel near Bergame
This hotel is in fact an old medieval village retrofitted into hotel. Rooms can be far from reception. Atmosphere like in a middle age castle. Rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast is good
Treated like a second class customer
Never during my many years of travelling have I been treated as a second class tourist like in this place. We were 8 travellers that were affected from a flight cancellation and the airline company decided to put us into this hotel. We did not know where we would end up - due to a lack of communication from the airline company - until we got there. This place is not a natural choice for any traveller that 1.) does not have a car 2.) does not wish to opt for the cheapest hotel with no public access to Bergamo. My biggest complaint goes to the hotel management which failed in treating us like valuable clients (and I have been working in the tourism industry for over 20 years). We were seated in the last corner of a banquet hall in the upper floor of the hotel, although the main restaurant, which is a quaint location, was empty. The food that was served was a complete deception. Never were we offered any à la carte options on our own expense. Thumbs up to one of the servers who - on request - provided us with an espresso and allowed us to sit down in the main restaurant to drink it. Thumbs down to the restaurant manager who then asked us to leave to the bar (a tiny, shabby space with no staff), mentioning that we were not meant to sit in the restaurant. The latter was, as already mentioned, completely empty except one table. On the next morning, we were served coffee in plastic cups plus a dry croissant in the same shabby bar. Again, the quaint restaurant space was empty and could easily have accommodated us - with no extra cost for the hotel management. We were all professional adults that just made the wrong airline choice and were treated like cheap second class travelers. A shame. My only other positive feedback goes to the receptionist that served me some snacks with a drink in the afternoon as I was hungry, the restaurant was closed and the closest supermarket could not be reached on foot as the only highway leading to it does not have a sidewalk.
Good hotel in a good environment
Calm and quite hotel in the green park with trees, flowers and bunnies. Rooms are quite old stile but with the major comforts. Wi-Fi works very bad and need to be fix if the hotel provide sponsors meetings and events.
Stayed for three nights. I have to say that I would not stay there again, but some of that is due to the location of the hotel but some also down to hotel itself. Three of us went in the sauna, ten mins or so in a member of staff came to the area with a very bad attitude, telling us we had to pay, if we knew that we would not have used the facility. During the meeting the amount of flies in the conference room was a constant pain, we had one evening meal booked in at the hotel, the menu was dominated by fish, my own opinion was the scallops were off, so left them as one other said they were fine. If you are allocated room 506 and rain is forecast then turn it down as there only Velux windows in the room in the ceiling and the sound was too much to sleep well, others complained about their rooms to me about flies in rooms but I have to say that was not a problem in my room. There was a smell of horses about which is probably a reason for the flies I guess, nearest bar is only 100yds away but we got the feeling of a service station in there. It may sound like I am doing nothing but running the place down, the hotel itself is not too bad at all in all honesty, just one poor attitude, flies and the location are a let down in my opinion. I think it is rated 4 star locally but I would rate it no higher than 3 star.
