Better than sleeping in a car

We were desperate for rooms, didn’t realize it was game weekend in Knoxville so we stayed here. It was better than sleeping in the car.
The bed was comfortable and the carpet was new. And the staff was friendly, for the most part.
But, they advertised free breakfast. But they didn’t have it because of “covid” yet nobody was wearing a mask???
We had stink bugs on our ceiling. In fairness to the owners, we didn’t tell them until we were checking out. We were tired and didn’t want to deal with the hassle. But when we told the man at the counter he didn’t seem surprise.
Our companions toilet quit working in the morning, it wouldn’t flush. Again, when they mentioned it to the man at the desk, his reaction was that they should have called. But they didn’t know until they woke up that morning.

Upon checking in, the" manager", Raj Patel got my info, and assigned me to Room #106. Upon entering, I found the drapes to be closed, the room VERY dark, the bed unmade, newspapers on the floor, and the wastebasket near the door, full of trash. I thought the room was occupied, and someone was already in there! I returned to the front desk, to inform Mr. Patel. He insisted no one was in the room, and returned to the room with me. He then told me "it must have been a LATE check-out" and no one cleaned the room. (He obviously does not check his rooms). He then took me to room #107, next door. Despite there being a sign next to the door that said NO SMOKING, the room smelled like smoke and VERY musty. Again, the drapes were pulled shut, and it was VERY dark in the room. I unloaded my items off the cart,. I then began to notice how VERY UNCLEAN the room was. The bed was messily made (have pictures), there was mold/black stuff on the window sill (have pictures), the credenza was sticky at one end (have pictures), handprints on top of the small refrigerator (have pictures), there were THREE burn holes from cigarettes in the bedspread (have pictures), luggage rack was covered in rust (have pictures), mold under the rim of the toilet (have pictures), small white stuff and pubic hair on toilet and on the bathroom floor (have pictures), and soda(?) on wall near the door (have pictures..my sister thought it looked like blood!). I immediately began to remove my items and head to the car, as these standards of "CLEAN" were WAY below my acceptance. I asked Mr. Patel to issue me a receipt and a refund for the room, as I could not stay there, especially with COVID, and feeling it had not been properly cleaned .At this point, he told me he would only refund 35% of my money. He then came to the room with me, where I proceeded to point out each item. He INSISTED the room had been cleaned, and WAS clean. He then told me he would only refund 10% of my money!!.I reminded him that I had not used ONE item in the room...I hadn't sat down, used a towel, a kleenex, etc., but he would not refund my money. He was belligerent, rude, and argumentative as well. I have learned to INSPECT a room before you agree to take it, and use a CREDIT CARD for payment, so payment can be refunded, if necessary. Bottom line, this hotel is filthy, the manager is unreasonable, and not at all accommodating, and lies about having free breakfast on his marquee. My suggestion, RUN as fast as you can from this place!! I feel I was TOTALLY swindled. I will file a complaint with the the BBB, and will be contacting the main office for Baymont Hotels as well.

I am an inspector in another state, and I would definitely close this place down. First of the mold like spell through out the entire place was not acceptable, and not healthy . no breakfast was served ,with an excuse do to covid, but the hotel across the street had no problem with serving a great breakfast. And the elevator did not work. all said and done we got up to our floor and went back down to check out, we also called for a refund and they will not give us a refund. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE IF YOU VALUE YOUR HEALTH......

Water was amazing. They had hot tub available, but shower was just as good, if not better, at relaxing me. The linens smelled great. Overall it was a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. I would recommend staying here to anyone!
Ask questions before handing over your credit card

We stopped for an overnight on a short road trip. One of the reasons we picked the Baymont was because the sign in front of the hotel said "Hot Breakfast". That is one of the things we look for.
After booking the room the gentleman behind the desk said, "Because of the pandemic we are not serving breakfast." My husband and I looked at each other in dismay and he asked if I wanted to go somewhere else. There was another hotel across the street and we discussed it for a moment. The gentleman then said, "they do have a bag breakfast but it's only juice and fruit." Having just signed the bill and being a bit road weary, I decided to not face the hassle of a refund and further discussion and we decided to stay at the Baymont. BUT we were disillusioned by this conversation.
The hotel is obviously going through an upgrade. The room was clean and adequate.
To our further disappointment we found out there wasn't even coffee offered in the lobby the next morning. That was also blamed on the pandemic. We made a phone call and found out the hotel across the street had lobby coffee available all morning.
I get the pandemic. We're vaccinated. We wear our masks. BUT I am weary of poor service being blamed on it. We always stay at a Wyndham property but will be much more inquisitive at the next front desk.
