Nearly perfect in every way

Lovely well managed property! We stayed in the North Building, in room 507, a large double room with a shared balcony and a faraway peek at the ocean. It was very quiet; even though we kept the windows open. There is a ceiling fan, and the large, west facing windows keep the room bright and cheerful during the day. In front of our room was a courtyard patio with picnic tables. We got takeout and ate here several nights. Nearby was a convenient large trash can so clean up from our picnics was easy. The room itself is extremely well designed. There is plenty of space to put your stuff away and plenty of charging outlets, both on the night table and in a shelf within the large dresser. The bathroom sink console had enough counter space and had additional space down below it to stash more things. There is also a separate console containing a small cube refrigerator and a Keurig coffee maker on a pull out tray. The hotel has a guest laundry with coin operated washers and dryers, which is very useful for longer stays. We found the location to be perfect. Walking out from the hotel grounds just two blocks away is an access point for Sea Cliff Coastal Trail, a bluff top walking path. This hotel is less than half an hour from both the San Diego Zoo and the San Diego Safari Park, so it’s a perfect location to stay if you plan to visit both parks. There are good restaurants nearby as is a Von's grocery store. We’ll gladly stay here again.

Wonderful stay!

We had one full day to spend in San Diego and were thinking of the big things - SD Zoo, Balboa Park, etc. We asked our waiter in the hotel restaurant if he had 1 day to see San Diego what he would recommend. He recommended Cabrillo Nat'l Monument and Coronado beach. It was the first sunny day there in over a week so we hit it just right. Thank you to this nice gentleman because when we visited the Point Loma tide pools my fiance proposed. Best recommendation ever!

We decided to use the free night voucher at last min @ Hotel Indigo Del Mar for a UCSD visit. Check in on 1/1. Front desk staff was professional but cold. On the way to the room, there were paddles everywhere in the hallway, made it harder for the rolling luggage. It was disappointed we weren't offered either ocean view or an upgraded room with my IHG Dimond Elite membership. Just a standard room with the parking lot view. I understand it's subject to availability. However, I don't think the occupancy is even 50%. We tried to take some pictures at the main building second floor balcony, unfortunately there were broken glasses all over the floor. The room is very clean and spacious. Bed and pillows are supportive. For a standard hotel room it is nothing to complain but also no surprise with the Indigo brand name.

I was at the point of using or losing a free IHG anniversary night and decided to have a close-by staycation in Del Mar. This is not what you think of when you think hotel. It has a more of a 60's coastal motel feel, like a renovated low-end property, however it has been well cared for and made for an enjoyable stay. I reserved a 2 Queen Standard and upon arrival found I had been upgraded to a 2 Queen Standard Ocean View. And I must say it was a nice upgrade. It was on the 2nd floor and only abutted one other room, so it was a relatively quiet stay. Our room was in the main building and not the annex. Check in time states 1600, but I received an email at 0830 saying my room was ready. Arrived about 1330 and checked in and were warmly greeted and assigned room 209. This room was very large, with coffee maker, working refrigerator, an ante type room which had a large closet, and a large bathroom. There were plenty of electrical outlets and there were also USB plugs next to the bed, which is convenient. The only thing was the room was not equipped with an in room safe. The large shower, no tub, had a rain head and a hand wand. The water heated quickly and had great pressure. The bathroom vanity had sufficient room for toothpaste, toothbrush, deodorant, hairbrush, and the provided amenities. All room equipment worked well and had no issues. From the room we had a nice ocean view, and it was only a short walk down 6th street to access the bluffs and the Sea Cliff Coastal Trail. We did not utilize the pool or dining facilities All staff encountered was friendly and helpful. Barbara on the front desk and Benito especially. A few take-aways from our stay. There is construction among the houses along the street behind the hotel (Stratford Court). Starting about 0800 there is the on again/off again back up beeping associated with construction equipment. The sound isolation quality of the rooms could be better as you can hear the people walk along the outside walkway past your room. As this room abutted the communal area known as the Hangout, I am sure during the summertime, noise could be an issue. But the Hangout provides a nice location for relaxing and enjoying the sunsets. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Disabled? Stay away!

This place was a total nightmare of a hotel with uncaring and disrespectful staff. I asked THREE TIMES for a quiet room with no kids adjacent to me and near no service areas because I am a DISABLED HEART TRANSPLANT PATIENT and need quiet. The hotel was less than half full but they completely ignored my request. So, they put me in room 218 right next to an adjoining room full of little kids who were stomping around and screaming inside and in the hallway all night. Also, they put me right next to the slamming service door for the restaurant which slammed all night and they emptied the trash at 10:10pm and again at 6:10am. I saw the same exact person who checked me in going in out and out of this door as well as the manager Barbara who was chit chatting in the hall in front of my room. So, I didn’t sleep a wink all night. I couldn’t take it anymore so I checked out at 6:45 so I could try and sleep IN MY CAR since my doctor’s appointment wasn’t until 11am. When checking out, I explained all of the above and the woman did not care at all. So I called corporate and complained. They basically said, “tough sh*t” and that I should’ve complained when it happened. How the heck can I complain when it was the same staff who checked me in and who took my reservation who were the ones making the noise and who were responsible for all of the noise? I have been staying at this hotel for over 8 years but this was the last straw. I was 100% disrespected. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.
