Hot, no temperature control, little sleep #357

Avaliou em 24 de julho de 2022

Until Purgatory does something about #357's temperature during the summer time, please do not waste your money. We would have been far more comfortable in a tent. A tent keeps out the mosquitoes and cools off at night instantly. This condo was warm in the night even with the screen-less balcony door wide open with a fan blowing *enter mosquitoes and cigarette smoke all night*. I understand they didn't design these places with summers in mind, but come on. A $300 portable AC unit would do the trick. We ended up paying about $250/night for this place. Complete rip off. Oh and some outlets and light bulbs didn't work. Reviews from at least a year about on booking.com say the same thing. Hasn't been fixed. Whatever entity is managing this property is getting away with a borderline scam. Purgatory needs to stop booking this place. Especially during the summer.

Amazing Location and Great Family Vacation

Avaliou em 10 de junho de 2022

We rented Unit 60 from Vacation Rental Collective. We stayed the first week of June, 2022. The unit is a two story condo with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Parking is at a lower level, so there are a lot of stairs involved. The back of the unit (ground level) was accessible, temporarily, for unloading luggage and groceries. The unit is less than 2 miles from Purgatory Ski Resort. It’s about 30 miles from Durango, so purchase at least a day or two’s worth of food for your stay on your way through town. Silverton has a local grocery store that keeps a good selection of food that’s perfect for things you may have forgotten. The unit was clean and stocked with at least a few things. You’ll need to bring/buy things like toilet paper and paper towels, if you’re staying longer than a few days. The beds were too firm for the majority of us. There were extra blankets in the unit that we put on the bed in the downstairs bedroom to help soften it. Be aware that the unit IS NOT air conditioned. The only time it was uncomfortably warm was at night, for those in the upstairs master bedroom. We requested an extra fan, which helped. I wish we had requested it sooner! The coffee pot and one of the fans quit working while we were there. We communicated with the VRC staff via email and they delivered new ones to us the same day. Their customer service was great. The pool is an indoor pool and the grandkids had a great time swimming there. Our only complaint about the pool area is that the ventilation in the pool area wasn’t great and the chlorine smell was extremely strong. The view from the balconies was amazing with Engineer Mountain being just to the left. Overall, we had a great experience and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Nice room, nice pool area, friendly staff

The staff was very friendly, our room was nice and cozy, the pool/hot tubs was very clean and nice, the pool bathrooms had a sauna in them, they let you borrow sleds for free for the kids. I would stay here again. We stayed here for a week with not one complaint.

BEWARE OF UNIT 61

Avaliou em 6 de julho de 2021

I'm a Colorado native and the San Juan Mountains are probably the prettiest in the state. Cascade Village is a perfect location to visit the area as it's close to Silverton, Ouray and Durango. These condos were built in the early 80s so while they are a bit dated the overall upkeep of the common grounds and facility are good and while I can't speak to the other units that are rented out (Purgatory Resort handles the privately owned rentals here and is about 2 miles away) I can tell you may want to avoid unit 61 unless you like the following... Mattresses that are so old I think they were from the 1800's - sunken in and uncomfortable to the point sleeping on the floor was almost an option Washer flooded thru the subfloor after one use and caused drywall in the carport below to fall down on my car! (maintenance said they have repeatedly contacted the owners to fix it as it floods every time it's used but the owners can't be bothered (Unit 61 is owned by Johnstone Ranch LLC in Oklahoma City). Pretty sure the dishwasher has the same probably too. Black mold underneath is a probability Half the window cranks are busted so you can't even open the them, the screen doors barley open they are so caked with gunk and in disrepair The interior is okay I guess. The unit has a dated design but is very spacious, TV's worked, bathrooms though had paint peeling off the walls and the facilities could use maintenance. Overall we just felt this unit with a TLC and investment would be worth the nightly rate they are charging but as it is? Very disappointing - it felt like I walked into a condo the day after my kids had a big party (without my permission) while I was out of town and didn't exactly clean the place up very well and everything was broken.

Mountain Retreat Away From The Grid!

Avaliou em 1 de junho de 2021

We rented their loft condo for Memorial weekend and it was beyond our expectations! Brandon is very professional, attentive and easy to work with. The condo has breathtaking views of the snow capped San Juans, its clean, well appointed and has EVERYTHING you need to escape the city! As comfortable as home. Its a 10 hour trip from my home but will stay here again!
