3 stars for a 4 stars hotel

"average" is a fair rating, considering that the hotel says that it is a four star location. Staff was friendly, but I found a bit disturbing that the largest towel (out of 2) was quite small and that I hit twice the night table with my head while sleeping. Also the smell from the bathroom sink was not always nice. But I give an additional star to breakfast and restaurant.

This hotel was booked by a cycling company. We stayed for 5 nights. 3 nights before the holiday and 2 nights after. I agree with other reviews about the service in this hotel. Some staff are rude and some are helpful. When we arrived the receptionist held 2 conversations with other staff members while he was booking us in, it did not relate to us (my husband speaks German). 3 nights were part of the holiday and we paid 240 euros for the extra 2 nights. The rooms in the Gazelle were unpleasant. Hot and dark, stained carpets and furniture, dirty shower curtain, TV stopped the wardrobe opening, noisy from neighbouring properties,smoke detector but no evacuation instructions in case of fire. Shower leaked, blind dirty, hairdryer broken, bathroom floor dirty, Steep and dangerous stairs. No help with luggage. Breakfast was adequate but not replaced after coach parties. At 8 am I expect to get a boiled egg. Bar unattended. We have made a complaint to the cycling company about the price we paid but have not had a reply. If we had been charged the 80 euros a night for the rooms we still would not have been very unhappy.

I cannot really see why this hotel is categorized as 4 stars hotel. It feels pretty much like 3 stars one. The breakfast had quite a good variety and was good. (two different juices, some cheese, eggs, vegetables etc.) The atmosphere of the hotel is rather a stopover atmosphere.

“Ok” hotel & great villa rooms & good breakfast. First time I stayed in the hotel itself. Lv2. Room & bathroom was OK. Breakfast is good. Second time i stayed in the “villa” room. Great room & great bathroom & balcony. All look new & spacious. Definitely recommended! Faldernpoort restaurant is a typical German restaurant, not bad / not great! Service is good & prices are OK.

Hotel is nice - room is clean. You have a minibar and the breakfast is also OK. There is free parking - but a bit away from the center so you have to walk a bit. Area is silent. I got no introduction to the hotel at arrival.
