Fabulous resort, questionable service

Six Senses Zil Pasyon is esthetically a beautiful resort, which capitalizes on strong natural assets (the beautiful Felicite Island where the hotel is located).
The villas and views offered are truly outstanding. Beautiful design. Seclusion feeling everywhere. The spa is very special.
Unfortunately, the service and food quality were both much below expectations throughout the stay, which were a clear contrast with the idyllic setting of the resort.
In my opinion, the speed of service is not up to the standards for this type of properties. Customization is non-existent. It really felt like a mass resort rather than a 30-villa property at ~50% capacity. Below some examples of issues I faced, which I'm trying to make as specific as possible to let everyone make their own opinion.
Whenever asking for help (whether laundry pick-up, buggy, etc.), the waiting time was too long (e.g., ~45min for laundry picky-up) and follow-ups were systematically required to make things happen. This really became an issue with the buggies since they are needed to move across the resort (the grounds are spread out and quite hilly).
More than the speed, the problem became the reliability of the staff - for example, having a buggy request forgotten, having the engineering team not showing up for maintenance, getting the wrong breakfast order, etc. I requested a credit card slip upon check-out and it took a few days (and follow-ups) to receive it. These events isolated wouldn't have been an issue to me but happening systematically on a daily basis, they seriously impacted the overall experience.
I had two maintenance issues during the stay: the sliding door to the terrace was blocked and a bad smell was coming out from the toilets.
The restaurant experience particularly let me down. Both food quality and food service were below expectations. I tried several meals (lobster rigatoni, tenderloin, etc.) and they all felt very basics. Nothing special, really. If you expect fine dining (which the pricing seemed to suggest), you'll be disappointed. When it comes to the service, I seriously questioned whether the staff got trained properly. For every question asked, the waiter/waitress had to double check with the chef (e.g., what is the fish of the day, what is the creme brulee of the day, how many pieces does the "shrimp rolls" include, etc.). When asked to recommend a cocktail, the staff was unable to interact. There was a night I showed up at the restaurant at 7PM for dinner. The restaurant was empty and my name was not on the list of bookings. 10min of discussion/negotiations were required to finally get a table. Overall, flexibility, attention to detail and anticipation of needs were inexistent.
Two days prior to my check-out, I had a 15-min chat in person with the GM, Tim, to raise all these issues. He acknowledged but did not judge necessary to ask in the following days whether things were getting better: not a single note left in the villa, not a phone call, nothing.
I don't recommend a stay in this resort.
Truly Amazing in Every Way

Run, don't walk to Six Senses Zil Pasyon! From the villa to the food to the service to the island itself, we found everything to be amazing.
Things we loved:
Service - nearly everyone we met had that perfect, subtle balance of making us feel welcome while not intruding. A massive special thanks to our Guest Experience Maker (GEM) Saman. For Saman, no request was too challenging. He even thought of things we hadn't considered and carefully adjusted our plans accordingly. Knowing it was our honeymoon, he made every effort to make it extra special -- and he did! I could rave about Saman forever, but in short, he truly made this trip perfect.
Villa 15 - although it's on the sunrise side and therefore maybe less desirable to some, we found the location to be ideal. From its position you can see uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean stretching to the horizon (while those on the sunset side include views of other islands). As it is the highest villa on that side, no other villas look into it and it is extremely private. The sunrise is also magical.
Privacy - Felicite Island captivated us with its privacy. You could go whole days without seeing other guests if you'd like, and we rarely saw more than a couple on each of the pristine beaches. Some afternoons we had entire beaches or the main pool completely to ourselves. While this may be because the resort wasn't at full capacity, even when full I'd imagine the exclusive, private feeling remains.
Scenery - we stayed a few other nights on neighboring Praslin and Mahe and everyone kept raving about the beaches on La Digue. I'm sure they're quite beautiful, but nothing beats similar looking beaches all to oneself with cabanas nestled under the shade trees at Six Senses. The granite boulders here are incredibly breathtaking.
Spa - the private infinity pool at the spa should not be missed. Our couples massage here was fantastic and the entire spa area is visually gorgeous.
Dining - in short, all food and beverages were delicious and we found the prices comparable to other luxury resorts we stayed at in the Seychelles. We're still dreaming of the indulgent breakfasts!
Things to note:
We really struggled with choosing the "right" resort in the Seychelles and could not have been happier we decided on Six Senses. Staying on a private island simply feels more special than on Mahe or Praslin, and the experience is so much more unique. After our stay at Six Sinses, we spent time on Mahe at a luxury resort that rhymes with "Five Reasons" and found it to be very nice but certainly not the same caliber as Six Senses (busier/more guests, less privacy, slower service, lack of attention to detail).
We found the boat to the resort to be a solid choice, but would love to try the helicopter next time as it wouldn't require us to make an extra stop in Praslin.
Advice for management:
Promote Saman immediately!
Advice for guests:
This is the place dreams are made. We absolutely loved it!
As the resort is spread out, if your plans are set be sure to pre-arrange your buggy service (e.g. to dinner, the beach, the spa) ahead of time. Even when we didn't call to book a buggy at a specific time, we waited no more than 5-10 mins or so for one to arrive. Enjoy the slower, island pace!

Hotel was in an amazing location and the resort design had really made the best of it, views and private locations everywhere. The villa & infinity pools were outstanding as were the spa treatments and facilities, there were a huge number of exceptional touches throughout.
What really stood out though was we were genuinely blown away by the level of service and the friendliness of the staff, they really seemed to have pride in their jobs and genuinely seemed to care how guests were doing.
Hopefully you only go on a honeymoon once and we certainly couldn’t have asked for more. We very much appeared the benefits given to honeymooners and the service from our Guest Experience Maker [GEM] Trevor for helping us throughout our stay.
Thank you to all the team at Six Senses for making our honeymoon one to remember forever.

Two best friends,
Aka Bonnie&Clyde went for a two night stay on Six Senses Zil Pasyon and where overwhelmed with the amazing experience. The attention to detail put into this resort, everything from the teaspoons in the villa to the personalized service where the staff picked up on you taste/preference and tailor made the experience accordingly. The sommeliers, the mixologist, the housekeeper, the activity center staff, the chefs all made our stay so personal and unforgettable.
Our Personal guest experience manager Kareem went over and above to give us the best experience we could wish for, nothing we asked for was too much.
Thank you to the Six Senses Zil Pasyon team for having us, we want to move in permanently!
We hope to see you soon again!
