Save your money don’t go to the show

Made arrangements for late arrival due to airline maintenance issue. When we arrived the cabin was full of other people. We saw an empty cabin. Not worth the money and at 1:15 am to find no place available as promised this is not a place to go. Communal showers. Sparse rooms
Overpriced, cheaply made, no bathrooms, do not recommend

We had a last minute schedule change in our Alaska itinerary and needed to find accommodation near Anchorage (we did not want to be in the city) . We searched from Seward to Denali and everything was full aside from basic motels. We found Meier Lake. The pictures online were lovely. I booked it and missed that there was no plumbing in the rooms. They have a shared “shower house”. My husband and I discovered that later and decided to be open to a unique experience. The “cabins” are a single room with a bed, one comfortable chair and a metal uncomfortable chair. So either you sat on the bed or someone sat in the metal chair. The room is smaller than a hotel room and there is no storage for your things. The room has cheap flooring that squeaked and buckled when you walked on it. Breakfast was delivered to our deck at 8 AM and consisted of a thermos of coffee. We declined pastries. There was no alternative. I would have been thrilled with 2 boiled eggs but I was told there was no alternative despite the the big kitchen I caught a glimpse of in the main building. The place was empty thankfully. So if you have so few guests why not try a little to impress the ones you have? Online reviews rave about the shower house. It is NOT spa-like. It is basic 1990 design with cheap shower enclosures. It was heated nicely. And what did we pay for 3 nights with no plumbing ...$954. I called and said I would pay for a fourth night as our flight from Anchorage was 10:30 PM. I was shocked to see I was charged $378 to stay until 6 PM the next day. I saw online the rate was the same as the other nights but they elected to charge me more despite the empty resort. The small lake is pleasant to look at. That is the only positive thing I can say. The website does not represent the product. I had minimal interaction with the staff or owner, but I did not get a welcome vibe.
Easy drive, Pristine location

If you haven’t been to Meier Lake, I highly recommend. What a nice retreat!!. Staff so genuinely friendly and property is beautiful and immaculate. They even have a phenomenal 18-hole disc golf course. Easy drive from Anchorage. We will be back! Added bonus- pet friendly for small, well behaved dogs.
It’s in the details.

The card on the table asked for suggestions on how to make this place better. I can’t come up with one. The cabins are so comfortable and clean. I love the binoculars in the room. The shared bathrooms are more like an exclusive spa than an Alaskan lake cabin. We sat by the lake and read and talked. A few degrees warmer and we would have been swimming. Well Done. All the little details are well noted.

We found this place by accident as every hotel was sold out from Anchorage to Denali and we were so fortunate to discover this wonderful place. The cabins are located in a remote location inside the woods with a private lake, there are only 6 cabins and the main lodge where breakfast is served. There are canoe, kayak and paddle boat to ride on the lake and there is also a trail to hike in the wood, inside the main lodge there are some comfortable sofas to seat by the fire and enjoy the view. The cabins are very nice, everything is new and the beds were so comforable we had a hard time waking up to have breakfast inside the main lodge which was also spectacular. Finally want to mention the service by the managers, they were very nice since our arrival, were available at all times for any request and made some good recommendations to visit in Wasilla and Palmer. I will definitly stay here during my next visit to Alaska
