Great Rooms; HORRIBLE service
Avaliou em 4 de janeiro de 2023
This hotel is tragic. The rooms are renovated, very cozy and new. The hotel itself is very nice, and breakfast was decent. So what's the problem? Service. For starters, my bed was never made after 5 days. I called daily to get housekeeping and I was promised it would occur. It never did. They didn't tell me until my FIFTH day that housekeeping did not touch beds that had items on them. But, two things: A) They didn't tell me that when I checked in; B) They never even vacuumed the floor even once. I then wrote a letter to the hotel GM, asking for a response during my stay, and never got a response at ALL. Nothing. I then mentioned it when I was checking out, and I got a shrug. Too bad. This hotel has potential. I'm a Hilton guy, and was thinking of doing a permanent switch to IHG, but, I don't think I will, given the bad customer service. I have relatives in Flint, and will have multiple multi-day stays this year but will book the Hilton Garden in Downtown. Advice: Pay a little more attention to the details, and your hotel would be great. As an aside: One of the workers was wearing a bonnet the morning of my check-out. That's not professional dress.

5 hr wait to get a room reserved months in advance & woken up by another group given keys to our room.

The morning we checked out, we left a note on our key card and gave it to the Gentleman at the front desk with our phone number asking the GM to call us. It has been 2 wks, and I have spoken with more than 4 team members, all promising a callback. We still have had no call or response to emails sent. Highlights of our Stay: - We booked our room months in advance for the CRIM Race. - Pre-check in online for a 3 pm check-in. - Arrived at 4 pm, waited 30 + min to be seen, updated about a staff shortage, and told our room would be ready in 1hr. - Returned at 5:30 pm, waited in line for 30+, and told it would be another hour. - Went to dinner and came back at 8:15 pm. - Waited 30+ min to be seen and was told our room was still not ready. The front counter was covered with room slips and keys for rooms ready. Pleaded to allow us to have one of the rooms ready & standing by. Finally given a room. - Immediately went to bed. At approx 10:45 pm, we were beyond startled & woken by a group of 4 people laughing & walking into our room. Jumped out of bed in fear & started screaming at them to get out. The front assigned them to our room. When I called the front desk, the woman said, "It is not my fault; the other girl didn't update her rooms; what do you want me to do about it." - We checked out and left at 5:45 am, beyond frustrated & disappointed by the lack of decency. We did not trust leaving our items in the room while gone. The lack of response or concern is beyond disappointing.

Wonderful stay!

My husband and I stayed here overnight for a concert at The Machine Shop. Although the shuttle bus to the concert venue was not an option, a gentleman at Holiday Inn informed me when I called to ask. The customer service of the employees here were friendly and efficient. The hotel and room was very clean and updated. The bed and pillows are very comfortable! And...the pillows were full size, unlike so many places that try to pass off thtow pillow sizes as real pillows. It was quiet which allowed for a peaceful night's sleep. Would stay here again if in the area!

Experience Worst Than Anticipated

Was aware of the hotel construction when booked, didn't think that I'd feel unsafe due to it. This is no light construction. This is a huge renovation and the hotel is barely operating during it. Due to the construction there is a ramshackle desk situated at the back door of the hotel near some service elevators that are a little scary to ride and seem like they desperately need work. The people at the desk are slow and not very helpful. They only gave us one key to the room, when I asked for another one they said they didn't have enough for people to have more than one room key. Guess what, I slept through my husband trying to come back to the room (He was able after 20 minutes to get a key from the desk, didn't have to give them his name or mine or anything - scary), he and I had different itineraries for our trip, so we needed two keys, they refused at check in. After a jarring elevator ride we arrived at our newly renovated room - it was nice. No soap in the room and no towels, but hey, after seeing the state of things downstairs I wasn't going to complain. We were able to grab some small towels off a maid cart we saw and dried ourselves off after our shower with a patchwork of wash cloths. Overall sleep wasn't great - the walls are paper thin, and people were partying in the room next to ours - whatever they should have fun. The main issue was the room's temp was hot/cold/hot/cold no inbetween. Didn't mess with the breakfast because it was crammed into the lobby area and I don't think I would have even wanted to eat a banana from that lobby. Check out took forever and a line of people circled around that small "lobby" area and everyone was breathing on each other. Yuck. Some people mentioned the neighborhood - it's fine - it's Flint - what do you expect?

Should be closed for construction

This hotel is under construction and is in a very poor neighborhood. Lots of graffiti in a dicey location. It really should be closed during their renovations and probably a down graded chain should take over. (Like “Quality” or Motel 6. It does not even come close to the IHG standards. I stay in a lot of hotels. So far this year I’ve stayed 92 nights and this one is THE worst. Dumpsters, port-a-potties, broken sheet rock and trash next to the building, hedge and grass over grown and untended, the Holiday Inn Express sign had lights burned out, their courtesy van was busted down and rusted out in their parking lot. There was an obvious prostitute standing at the outside entrance. Ugh! (I pre-booked on-line and if it wasn’t so late I would have insisted I be allowed to cancel my reservation and gone elsewhere) You must enter through their back door and their “front desk” is confined to a small area next to the elevator, incapsulated in plywood and plastic. Very filthy floor. In a word: “scary”. This kind of place can wreck IHG’s image and give the false impression to the infrequent traveler that this is normal. It is off the radar from other IHG locations. Run! Do not book here!
