Not worth it at all, only for the most outdoors of outdoors people.

My mom and I stayed here as part of our Gate 1 tour of Costa Rica and honestly, like most hotels on the itinerary it was outdated, full of bugs and even a lizard in our shower. The wifi did not work and the staff basically did nothing to remedy the situation despite numerous contact attempts. Would recommend just sticking with a regular updated hotel unless you just have a preference for outdoor stuff.

Not what the reviews say

Having checked into the tilajari resort on the 4th day of our Costa Rican journey - we have been severely disappointed. The rating of the hotel is 4 star, we have come as tourists from the U.K and have been treated poorly with zero hospitality from the check in point. We have been checked into an outdated room with damp rising up the walls, dirty bedsheets and old rusted cupboards, I am not sure how this makes it a 4 star resort. Pictures available. When asking for simple things like towels or basic provisions, the hotel haven’t been able to help us. We asked for a map of the local area and their reply was “we do not have one” when pushed for even local map, again we were met with “no we have no maps of the area”. What 4 star resort in a tourist hub have no maps? Surely this is not the standard for a 4 star resort? We were informed at the check in to ask for the sauna to be switched on at least 20 minutes before use, which we proceeded to do. On arriving to the sauna, it was cold, not switched on and the door left open. We complained once again to the front desk - where Robert the attendant to check us in, just said “ I don’t know”. We informed Robert we are vegetarian in diet, could he ensure the breakfast are informed of this. His reply “you have to tell the restaurant yourself”. What a poor service for the San Carlos and la fortuna area. We would not return here or recommend any international travellers to come through to this hotel. So far we appalled with the service, made to feel uncomfortable as if we are in the way of there extremely non busy season. It has left what was such a great start with a horrid taste of poor hospitality and discomfort to our trip. Perhaps as we are foreign we have been treated differently.

Not even a map

Having checked into the 3rd hotel on our Costa Rican journey, the tilajari hotel resort - I cannot speak any positives of this resort. When asking for simple things like towels or basic provisions, the hotel haven’t been able to help us. We asked for a map of the local area and their reply was “we do not have one” when pushed for even local map, again we were met with “no we have no maps of the area”. What 4 star resort in a tourist hub have no maps? From a hospitality perspective we would have accepted a printed map from Google, just something to take in case our electronics died. We are shocked that a basic map cannot be provided. We suspect some racism, or laziness towards us - as surely this is not the standard for a 4 star resort? So far we appalled with the service, made to feel uncomfortable as if we are in the way of there extremely non busy season. It has left what was such a great start with a horrid taste of poor hospitality and discomfort to our trip.
