DIRTY OVENS, DUSTY WINDOWS, LOUD CONSTRUCTION

Avaliou em 13 de julho de 2022

Upon booking my reservation for this hotel online, there wasn't any warning or indication that the property was under construction until receiving an email the NIGHT before check in when it was already too late to cancel. I checked in and a nice gentleman at the front desk handled my check in. When I went up to the room, one of the bedrooms had blue tarp on the window. The window was dusty and dirty with a lot of debris. The oven in the kitchen was FILTHY...I mean PURE FILTH. The banging from the construction was immediately UNBEARABLE. I called down to the front desk and they told me that the 2 bedrooms were only on the construction side of the building and that they were unable to do anything about it. When I went downstairs to the reception to try to resolve the issue or downgrade to a room without the construction view and noise, the MOD informed me that the banging was "only from 9-5" when "guests aren't usually in the room....LOL...excuse me, but are dictating my leisure itinerary? Then when I proceeded to tell her that the room wasn't going to work out for me she quickly stated sarcastically "will you like me to check you out then? " That was the deal breaker for me! $1100.00 for 4 nights then to deal with a filthy room, LOUD construction noises, and condescending management made up my mind to NEVER BOOK AT A MARIOTT HOTEL again. I will stick to the brand I've been dealing with for the past 10 years. Needless to say, I did check out and opted for Homewood Suites to which I had a marvelous stay there with EXCEPTIONAL service. If your rooms are under construction, close them to guests to avoid the complaints and issues.

Clean, comfortable, and close to EVERYTHING...Except Sanibel Island!

MY Fiancee and I have now stayed here twice. Both times the visit was exceptional. The rooms are standard Residence Inn, and have everything you expect (except daily housekeeping). This stay I do have several issues I would like to bring to management's attention. Breakfast: Please restock the breakfast foods after they are consumed. I get it - this weekend you had a herd of college athletes staying there. But to leave the cereal and other food trays empty after the "herd" finished feeding made me feel very second-class. On Sunday, 5.15.22, most of the food was gone by 9:05am and almost all of the fresh juice was empty; the attendant was already putting things away. Does this mean now I have to get up early in order to eat? Why bother. We went to Mc Donalds. If you know there's a larger group coming in, and I'm sure you do, prepare for it! It's not that hard. ICE: Please bring back a guest accessible ICE machine. You know as well as I do that it takes forever for the little icemakers in the freezers to make enough ice for a single drink, much less how long it takes to make enough to fill a blender! We did speak to the nice lady at the front desk and she gladly provided us with a small bag of ice to get us through, but really, how much effort does an ice machine require? Just my .02. Daily Trash Service: This is becoming a no brainer. Our trash cans were overflowing before we left. If you are not going to provide daily trash service, then please provide a reasonable-sized trash bag that we can put outside the door daily before it starts overflowing onto the floor. Room safe: What is the criteria for a Residence Inn to have room safes? Some do, and some don't. The shower floor: The new showers with the sliding doors are very spacious and nice, but the floor is like an ice rink and is incredibly slippery. The tile floor in the bathroom is also VERY slick if you step on it with wet, bare feet. Some positive things: The A/C! A must in Florida as we all know, and the A/C in this hotel knocks it out of the park. Our room was at 69 degrees in about 20 minutes, and the cool air blows right on the bed. It was VERY nice! The staff! Everyone we met and spoke to was very kind and friendly and willing to help with anything we asked. Service with a smile is rare, especially these days, and everyone we met was very friendly and greeted with a smile. Refreshing, and very welcome! The location! Gulf Coast Town Center has EVERYTHING you could possibly need for a weekend or a week EXCEPT a grocery store and a liquor store. Fantastic restaurants, shopping, a movie theater; the only thing missing is a water park! Great location! Except, it's not close to Sanibel. Sadly, this will likely be our last stay here, as we have discovered the other Residence Inn that's 11 miles closer to Sanibel, right on the end of the causeway.
