Beautiful beachfront hotel with cozy cottages, nice swimming pool and very charming design, stunning sunrise view from the hotel Specious roos and nice open shower and toilet 20 mins walking distance to the island harbor, staff were very friendly and kind.

Compared to the price very good hotel!we paid 35€ per night with breakfast included!the staff is also very helpful and very kind..!The beach in front of is peaceful and extremely clean...you can relax and enjoy the sunrise there..!for sure recommended!

These authentic beach bungalows operate an excellent spot on the eastern side of the island with a variety of bars and restaurants within a short walking distance. That's about where the positives end as the property was let down by a variety of shortcomings. The room wasn't made up once during our 5 day stay and I had to request fresh towels midway through the trip. The room was very dimly lit and the outdoor bathroom, although a lovely quirk in itself, wasn't impeccably clean when we arrived. The room was of a suitable size and had a large verandah which we enjoyed relaxing on. That being said, we stored our empty water bottles there and they weren't once collected, nor was the bin emptied. Breakfast is at a nearby restaurant, just a minute's walk away. Again, this isn't an issue in itself but said restaurant offered poor service. There is self serve coffee, cereal and fruit - on 3 of the 4 mornings I had to request a cup and/or a bowl as there were none to help yourself to. The breakfast itself was the poorest of our travels thus far with little selection and quality not what we'd experienced in other establishments. There is no on site restaurant or cafe so the staff only seem responsible for cleaning the rooms when new guests move in, creating a feeling of the property being relatively 'unmanned'. I thought long and hard about how to score Villa Coco because I don't to be unfairly harsh. That being said, this score is an accurate reflection of its standard when compared to other places in the same price bracket in the area.

This was our third visit to ‘Coco Republic’ over recent years. Great location & lovely Bungalows right by the sea on the eastern side of Gili Air Island. Breakfast is at the near-by ‘Orong Villages Beach Restaurant’ which we enjoyed. My daughter has a dietary requirement of ‘Gluten free’ (due to Coeliac disease) and the Staff went out of there was to assist with our needs. The Staff at ‘Coco Republic’ are very friendly & accommodating. Felt like we were staying with our Indonesian friends! Thank you to my friends - “Re-Joel” , “E-one” & “August” (thought I should write the names with ‘Western English’ pronunciation – to assist future Visitors!!!)

So peaceful and quiet - only the sounds of the birds, the sea swishing up the beach and the clip-clop jingle of the horse taxi's. No bar/restaurant here or next door so no annoying reggae/hip hop/techno music! Bungalows are not very sound proof (we could hear our neighbours talking) and if the 4.30am call to prayer from the Mosque wakes you - bring earplugs! Breakfast at Oorong was a hit-and miss! Sometimes no boiling water, sometimes they simply forgot our order and we were the only people at breakfast!! We eventually just ate elsewhere but they do make good cappuccino's and it's a popular venue in the evening! Beautifully maintained gardens, clean freshwater pool (underground water) and charming, clean and comfortable bungalows. Bungalows have a fridge, kettle with tea and coffee, wi-fi, TV and DVD player (which we didn't use). Lovely coconut grove behind the property - they are planning to build more rooms there so I hope the trees don't get chopped down and it would be a shame as this place is intimate and blissfully quiet as it is. Snorkeling directly in front of the property is good - do NOT walk on the reef as there are lots of sea urchins and scorpion fish but swim over it at high tide. Safe swimming is further South in front of Scallywags - it's a deep sandy area. Lots of nice places to eat in this area and a shop to buy supplies. The dive shops do water bottle refills for a small fee. Excellent massages nearby at Bambu Spa - upstairs in the bamboo 'tree-house' - well worth it. Prices here seem to be inconsistent but we highly recommend this place and will be back. Oh and the sunrise from our bungalow - just incredible!
