Stayed in a log cabin that was very close to Monticello, Thomas Jefferson's home and Montplier (James Madison's home). During the Pandemic, one had to reserve time for the pool and fitness center. The "Hot" tub was not hot, understood why jets were not on, but circulation pumps were on intermittently with the temperature one degree warmer than the heated pool.
A welcome Covid getaway
My husband and I spent four nights in a 2 bedroom 2 bath townhome. These units have all been updated recently. Everything is in good shape and the furnishings and design are all well done. I did find the lighting wanting. Being in our sixties we like brighter lights. It'd have been nice if you could choose the wattage that works for you - dimmer switches? We also felt the bedrooms could use a chair of some sort to be able to put on your shoes, or just relax in. The master bedroom does have room for that addition. (We brought up a dining room chair that solved that problem for us.) We had a day and a half of sun before the rains came, but for us, it was just good to get away from our home which we've spent so much time in the past 8 months. We had very little contact with anyone while there since we only had one nice day to walk and enjoy the property. We had brought our food for most meals but did use online ordering for BBQ Exchange which was really set up well. Highly recommend. There wasn't a whole lot we felt comfortable doing due to Covid - we did not feel comfortable doing indoor museums or tours, but others may not feel like we do. It was a nice get away at a lovely resort.
Beautiful property in the rolling valleys of Virginia.
Beautiful. Something to do for every family member or just enjoy the quiet country setting. Quaint towns near to visit. Enjoyed our stay. Staff were courteous and helpful. Cabin was clean, modernized.
very relaxing vacation
My wife and visited Sept.29th through Oct 5th and had a very good time . We had a 2 bedroom cabin that was very clean and we were relieved that the management took the covid seriously. There is quite a lot to do such as horseback riding and lake activities.
Beautiful Grounds but Mediocre Cabins
The grounds are so beautiful and my dad and I enjoyed walking around and doing horseback riding. We stayed here two different weeks and both times we were in a two bedroom cabin. The cabin was cozy however in need of some love. One of them the bath tub sagged when you stepped into it which was concerning. our first weekend we had hair left on the shower wall which was amazing to us giving all the precautions with COVID. If you are going to stay here get a Yurt not a cabin.
