We are Platinum Owners with Bluegreen and this was our second stay in one of the yurts. This will be our last stay in a yurt. At check-out we gave a list of things that needed to be taken care of before the next guests. This unit needed an overall good cleaning. The oven was long overdue for cleaning. I baked salmon while there and when I opened the oven door to check my salmon, the smoke alarm was set off. The skillets had hardened grease on the outsides. I tried to clean them but had no cleaner that worked. The ice maker had been turned on prior to our arrival which we appreciated; however the ice bin was on the bottom shelf and I had to remove about two inches of ice from the shelves before I could place our food inside. There was a rim of dust around all the walls and we killed spiders in the living area, kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. I realize this is a wooded area but I was not comfortable with the spiders. We had requested a unit with parking right in front since we both have health issues; however, the one we were assigned was off to the right of the parking area and down hill. The area is beautiful and all the staff in the front office and maintenance with whom we had contact were very nice. The only issue I had on our first visit in the one bedroom yurt was a lack of light and storage. This unit was well lit and had more closet space which was nice. We would like to visit again but not in a yurt. The area is very nice with a lot of antique shops nearby and not a lot of restaurants but the ones we visited had good service and food. We had some neighbors during the first part of our stay who were outside late in the evening (past midnight) and rather loud. We didn't have children with us so it was not that bad but if a family was there with young children it might have been too noisy. Most Bluegreen sites have quiet time from around 10:30 to 8:00 a.m. but I'm not sure if this is the case since this is more like a camping facility.
Early spring visit
We enjoyed the area. Our townhouse had not been renovated yet and was not the accommodation we are used to with Blue Green. We will return, but will request a cabin or yurt. The grounds are beautiful!
Been coming here since 2012
I am a Bluegreen owner, and I have been coming here since 2012. I have only stayed in 2 or 3 bedroom cabins and cannot comment on the Lodge or Yurts or Chalets (though the Chalets look identical to ones at other BG locations). It's really a peaceful and scenic place to stay and relax. There's lots to do on resort grounds, and very good for family with kids. The restaurant and bar at the Lodge is quite nice. The pool side shop and cafe could be better and offer more choices. There's not a lot of restaurants near the resort, so unless you are cooking in your cabin, the on-site restaurants quickly become not so exciting, and the drive into town to get food isn't very "vacationy". of course if you are out and about, then that's fine, but if you want to use the resort facilities, I think an expanded menu would be helpful, and expanded hours.
Points were about to expire
We chose this place because it was close. Also we weren't giving Blue Green another $50 to save the points. The cabin it self is nice. The sofa is in awful shape in unit 161. The bed was comfortable. Each cabin has its own gas grill. The restaurant food is good but some items are over priced. Beware the sales people will throw everything at you like free weeks. Remember nothing is free. The hour we were supposed to be there turned into 5 hours. We wasted half a day. Must go to the BBQ Exchange.
Love the YURTS
We stayed in a 2 bedroom yurt. It was cozy and comfy. Loved the rustic environment and the setting. Great resort. Yurt had full kitchen, including a dishwasher. Beds were very nice, and the outdoor seating and gas grill a nice touch!
