Came to Grimsby to visit family, the hotel is right in the town centre..staff are all just lovely and so attentive, we played up for tea bags and more milk and the guys were happy to accommodate. Crisp white bedding, so comfy. And the food is to die for..we didn't have room for pudding.. late on we went to Pepys bar for drinks and there was a singer on..staff very engaging and chatty. Loved it here and will most definitely be back

I was very impressed with the quality of the Christmas dinner on Christmas day. The food was well cooked and plentiful. The room and tables looked festive and the staff were attentive. I shall be back for more

Work’s Christmas Meal
Avaliou em 14 de dezembro de 2022
Had work’s Christmas meal here for the 3rd year in a row. Must say this year has got to be best one. Food very hot. I had prawn crayfish with a lovely warm bread roll for starter. Turkey with all the trimmings including a Yorkshire pud,veg was cooked lovely. Xmas pud with brandy sauce. Only niggle brandy could of been cooked out a bit longer, was a bit strong. Staff very friendly was happy to help and gave service with a smile.

rooms were not what they are on the website. on inspection to the room that we didn’t book, dated, dirty bathroom, cracked floor and tiles. Windows wouldn’t open. Pathetic excuse for a wardrobe to hang clothes. we wanted to put a complaint in but was told no manager in the building today. Very professional, I offered I would come back in the morning, to be told managers don’t work weekends. With the dated decor and the rowdy guests the previous night. It doesn’t surprise me that the management for this place is as poor as that. They probably given up aswell. what hotel nowadays doesn’t have managers in on weekdays or weekends. Anyway luckily for us it was just a one night stay. If you are looking for a rundown hotel, with druggies hanging around outside and in the rooms it seems. Then this is for you

Budget - but with no bother.

If you're expecting 5* accommodation, this place isn't for you. However, if you're expecting a good night's sleep, service with a smile and a decent breakfast - you'd like this place. I booked the St James with a week's notice for around £50. This was good value considering the Premier Inn (Cleethorpes) and Holiday Inn Express were both charging £110+! The room I was in could have done with some updating (especially the chairs which were extremely worn, but comfortable). There are no plug sockets by the side of the bed which is slightly frustrating but not a huge issue. A pretty well sized TV with Freeview is provided and WiFi is fast and complimentary which really does help. Breakfast felt a bit on the steep side at £11 (£10.95), but all food was cooked to good quality (no hash browns served despite being on the menu - bizarre) and was a lot more plentiful than a Holiday Inn Express breakfast. Overall - staff were really friendly and helpful, bed was comfortable and breakfast was tasty. For £50 for literally a stones throw from Grimsby Town centre, I'd happily stay here again.
