Com toda a justiça faz parte dos The Leading Hotels of the world. Hotel fantástico, numa zona tranquila e com um serviço de primeira qualidade. Ambiente muito bom e jardins muito bonitos. Excelente escolha.

Old hotel in desperate need of renovation and care
Avaliou em 9 de agosto de 2022
This hotel does not deserve a 5 star rating any more. It desperately needs renovation. The paint (especially the exterior) is chipping off or discolored. The once beautiful wood floor is scuffed. The furniture is scratched and dreary looking. They do not have an available valet to help you with your luggage. There are rugs everywhere which are not vacuumed daily. Plus… there is no air conditioning! When you open the windows to try to cool down your room, wasps and mosquitos fly in because there are no window screens. The only positive is the restaurant and the terrace. It is a Real Shame.

Simply awesome

Very classy. Very expensive but worth the expense. The hotel did a great job restoring the building. First, the front desk staff are simply amazing. It was our first international trip since covid, so I was nervous and tired. But, the front desk peeps were welcoming and soothing. Thank you for your effusive welcome. The room is cozy especially the bed. The bathroom is fairly large and very clean and comfortable. The resto has a stunning view of the river. I would have stayed there often except that I was avoiding food as I struggle with my weight. Overall, simply awesome!

Five Stars with appropriate subtelty

My recent visit to this hotel reminded me of what quality in the hotel industry used to mean. The location is outside the main city, a stone's throw from the rolling river Elbe and a wonderful promenade, and ideal for winding down before or after a busy day. My room had french doors to a small patio garden where I could enjoy a cup of coffee prepared with the machine in my room. It was tastefully furnished with period furniture, and spacious. I could regulate the curtains for optimal sleeping and the bed was comfortable. The walk-in closet with a long area to support my garment bag or pull out for an oversized suitcase was perfect. I have not luxuriated in an old porcelain tub long enough to lie down in for ages. Toiletries included bath salts! Sanitary provisions included labeling pens and umbrellas as used an unused with spray postst throughout the hotel. The wellness area was top. Only minutiae with reservation glitches, that mixed up my invoice address, or using Eggbeater like substances for omelettes detracted. In theses days of post-covid lags in tourism etc. one must also consider that a business must economize where it can. I was thoroughly satisfied that this organization made prudent choices. I will return.

Horrible Service at This Old World Property
Avaliou em 3 de novembro de 2021
This is an old world hotel that seems to have many positive reviews here on TripAdvisor. It is a good option if you have the budget and are willing to overlook certain downfalls, many of which are predictable but disappointing nevertheless. Although the property is very old and by virtue of that romantically we ward, the problem is service. It’s often SERVICE in the world of hospitality. Let’s start with fundamentals. The hotel is terribly understaffed. There is one person at the front desk, and you have to look for them. The breakfast staff have zero personality and probably zero training. The staff at the property don’t speak English. We were “upgraded” into a tiny room rather than the suite we booked. We did ask for a water view suite but instead we were given a small room with a nice view for Hamburg view, this was a 25 euro per night upgrade. Figure this out. The city of Hamburg has been cutting trees outside the room we were in since 720 am. Nice. Nothing they could do, the receptionist said. Well... true. They could give a discount on the room I booked for the driver. But, no. There was no sympathy. The service is minimal and cold. Believe me, I tried, and tried being very nice to them. They are robots and just don’t care. Blame everything on COVID. No porters - Covid. Bad service- COVID! They are moving us to the original room, a garden suite. It is taking a long time. They referred to AmEx as Expedia, and calls from AmEx travel as “a colleague calling requesting a water view room for me..” The hotel is stingy and stodgy - hard to work with. Thus far, seems like a nice old old world minimally staffed property catering to locals that need to be in Hamburg but don’t want to be in Hamburg, and have a budget to pay top dollar. Service at breakfast is hollow and dumb with mechanical and very superficial “pleasantries”. I felt that we were at a government unemployment office, and not at a breakfast at a nice property that boasts a Michelin restaurant. It’s a bit like having an outhouse next to a flower shop. Lovely. Overall so far this is frustrating and disappointing experience. Property basically sucks because of service and that what makes it or breaks it in hospitality. I hope the management learns something from my review and the readers adjust their expectations or book a mainstream property. I am surprised at some of the positive reviews. To my chagrin, I relied on them. I should have seem that there are issues from the ridiculously unprofessional and unintuitive website and difficulty in reaching reservations. Yet, curiosity got the best of me. This is a 4 star European property with 2 star service.
