I don't know why they got such a low rating - they deserve a 5/5

We were in Building A - (Ash). Everything was tiptop from start to finish. From reservations over the phone, to checking in to the room. The room was updated and new. The bed was comfortable. The shower was great! The room was very clean, toiletries smelt wonderful. Everything was provided even a fridge with water bottles! Better than many 5 star hotels! The view was beautiful of the forest and mountains. The surroundings are beautiful - lots of lovely places to chill and enjoy the weather. The restaurant food and drinks were really good. The lodge is close to many activities. We would definitely recommend the lodge for a visit to Helen. They even had a ev charger (albeit a slow one) but they had one!

Relaxing

What a great place to be! I loved our views, the rooms were very nice and comfortable, and the staff was friendly. They had everything your looking for in one area without having to leave! A restaurant, tavern, activities, and town nearby while still having the quietness of the mountains. It was a plus being close to the town of Helen!

A Barrel of Fun!

Avaliou em 10 de agosto de 2022

We stayed in a barrel cabin, and loved it! It is an adventure in and of itself. A little dated, but still incredibly enjoyable. But then the best part was how much was available to guests. A fantastic tavern, pool table, corn hole, shuffleboard table (with a wicked warp!), Wii station, shuttle to Helen - I could go on and on! This would be a great place for a family vacation or a reunion. Everyone in my party had a great time.

Check your Reservations!!!

Check your reservations!!!!! My husband and I have been trying to stay here since September 2019, but there was a hurricane in 2019 that shut the park down…then COVID…then family stuff that delayed our ability to come to the lodge. We FINALLY made reservations for the end of July and we were super excited to bring our 2 small kids there. The week of our stay I called to confirm on both Monday and Thursday. My initial reservation was quoted for just over $800 and I gladly paid the first night deposit of $209, thinking my balance would be just over $600 when I checked in. Upon arriving I walked into the lodge and could instantly smell mold, but I thought, it is a lodge in the middle of the forest. I was told that my balance was $117 and I really didn’t think much of it at the time. After driving 12 hours I was excited to get in settled, unpacked and showered. I went to my building opened the door and was greeted with no lights on. As I walked in I thought ‘what the actual…’ I was met with hanging tarps, and SINGLE hanging light (NOT ON). As I continued all it could think was ‘when are the shinning twins going to pop out?!’ My kids would not feel comfortable walking into that hall, they are young and as a 40 yo I wasn’t even comfortable…when I open the hotel room door and checked the room over I found that the pass through to the other room was opened and there was NO LOCK! As a mom of 2 small kids that that not on my to do list nor does that make me feel comfortable. When I went back into the lodge to explain my concerns I was met with “well the old manager over booked the lodge thinking that the renovations would be done and the staff was supposed to call anyone staying in a building being renovated to let them know.” I called TWICE that week and I was never informed. While I was given a refund, there was only ONE room in the town of Helen left. I had just driven 12 hours with my husband and 2 small kids had I NOT found that room I would have had to drive back to I-85 to find a room which was 45 mins away. So moral of the story check your reservations and explicitly ask “is my room in a building under renovation?” If they say yes- RUN!

Great Family

Cabin B is the ultimate home away from home experience. Attention to detail and sparkling clean are the 2 words that summarize it all. When traveling with kids I usually try to think and pack everything that may be needed -The Unicoi Staff Members took care of everything we needed to make our day. Would stay there over and over again. Enjoy your stay in a so homey!!!!
