Terrible!

We have stayed at this hotel several times over the past 5 years and always had a pleasant experience. However, this time we requested dinner on arrival, but were not advised that there was NO buffet any more and that there was a choice of 2 starters and three mains. We decided on the starters and both were inedible and the bread rolls were stale with no butter offered. We ordered a carafe of wine which was undrinkable. We will not be coming back again.

The hotel is advertised as 3 star. Our room was clean but scruffy and in need of renovation or, at least re-decoration. One light did not work and the desk light had a faulty switch. There was a clean mark on the wall where a panel or notice had been removed. There was a notice about how the room had been carefully cleaned - this did not extend to the lamp base which was very dusty. Its shade was cracked, flaking and discoloured. I reported the dangerous light switch when I checked out and was met with indifference. A very disappointing experience which did not meet expectations.

Disappointing in the extreme

After a long day travelling with unexpected delays in the sticky heat we looked forward to reaching our room and having a longed for cup of tea, only to find that due to covid 19 there was no kettle, no cups, no beverages, no telephone and no remote for the television. Was cleaning the outside of the kettle, telephone and remote with a suitable product, as happened in our hotel in England, beyond the staff of the Kyriad? A vending machine for drinks would have compensated a little but even that was absent. Breakfast was limited in comparison with previous stays. Was the price reduced for these inconveniences? No!

good stop off point

15 minutes from the port. Easy to find with a sat nav which takes you straight there. Arrived 10.pm nice to see the bar was still open for at least half an hour for a night cap. Rooms basic, comfortable, and warm. Good value for money. Breakfast really lovely, nice selection, great coffee. Good stop off point overnight, no longer.

Payment Error

The Hotel was very handy for the port especially as it had a restaurant. Heater in room not working. The room was pre-paid on the website but the hotel insisted I paid again when I checked out. I had no time to argue so I did. I reported this back to Campanile who are investigating it. Still no result after a week.
