Perfect place to stay in town with bery fairly price. There is lots of other hotels in town but they charge more than 150$ a night this place is near by lake and very peaceful also. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Very nice and clean room as well.

Not sure how this hotel has an average rating of 4.2 on Google and the Choice website. I spent 40+ nights in hotels this past year. I usually stay at the same Quality Inn that has rating of 3.7. Nothing fancy, but clean and has good customer service. This hotel was not even close to as nice. Service was bad. Had to wait forever at the front desk to check in. Room was REALLY dated. That normally wouldn't be grounds for a bad review if it was clean and we'll taken care of. This room was not. Beds were sagging tremendously in the middle, pillows were about 3 inches thick, ancient, and had no support, mildew around the tub, and the AC/heater sounded like a jet engine. If you are a loyal Choice hotels customer like myself stay at The Inn Hotel Ascend. Similar price and MUCH nicer. I did look at one of the rooms with 4 queen beds for a future family visit, before going to the room I had for the night. It looked a lot nicer. Maybe the rooms in the main building are better.

We did NOT book through any online site, we just needed a single bed room. Charged $118 with tax & AAA membership-no discount. Room had a chair that was worn to the point of having holes in the arms, the TV remote would not work all the time.
There was enough towels, pillows, toilet paper and Kleenex. Bed was ok, but sheets didn't seem to fit well enough. Parking was confusing and no door was located near our room where we parked, by the patio. Outside & inside common areas were clean.
Our problems happened in the breakfast area at 8 am. A family with 3 small children were sitting at a table, not eating, no dishes, but the children were walking on the coffee tables, the couch, running all over. Front desk worker was chatting with these guests as this was happening.
We proceeded to get our breakfast, we were being assaulted with curdling screams from one of the children. After sitting down and starting to eat the screams continued. After the loudest scream I've ever heard, my friend had to say something to the parents to do something. He didn't swear, he was loud. The front desk staff asked my friend to leave!
Other guests were disrupted by this family also, we were not the only ones quietly trying to have breakfast. This family followed my friend and cursed at him as he entered our room, which was heard in the dining room where I was still eating.
First, we paid over $100 and were not allowed to eat in quiet. It's high time hotels take a stand for everyone, and remove the disrupters, not those who have been assaulted. This family was NOT eating, their children were walking on the furniture & tables. So much for clean. Are they wanting a lawsuit by irresponsible parents? The front desk should have asked them to leave as the children could not be controlled, and several guests should NOT have to listen to ear-piercing screams!
Retrain your staff to make sure there is control, not chaos. How about parents be told to control their children for the safety and enjoyment of ALL guests? This dining room only has a few tables so several guests were being hearing assaulted by this family. My friend saw me clamp my hands to my ears and had enough. It never should have been ALLOWED to go that long!
I will be contacting Choice Hotels Corporate about this dangerous behavior allowed to go on in their dining area.
Great Suite... Great Price!

So this is the best Rodeway I have ever stayed in. I usually stay in Choice Hotel properties, but rarely in any non-Comfort Inn/Quality Suites properties. But this was the only Choice property in the area and man was I pleasantly surprised.
Because of the very reasonable rate, I chose a King Suite but they upgraded me to the Luxury Suite with a Jacuzzi and it was sooo relaxing after a long week. The property also has a indoor pool, an outdoor seating area with 2 grills and of course it’s super close to Lake Okoboji.
Would definitely stay here again if needed, but I seldom come through this particular area. Maybe I’ll drive out of my way next trip ;)
