Horrible Stay and Experience

This is THE most horrible experience I ever had in my entire life as far as hotel industry is concerned. We were moving out of state and booked in Extended Stay America, Irvine, CA for a month. We specially booked a room which had a sleeper sofa as we wanted one pull out couch for my daughter to sleep and also me and my husband were working from home so needed a place to sit. As soon as we moved in the very first day we noticed that the pull out couch was broken and no one can sleep on it. No utensils were provided, hot plate was not working, there were holes in the screen on the windows. We reached out at the front desk and the lady said that we do not have any rooms available and this is all they have. Obviously we are not gonna go looking for a place to stay as there was no availability anywhere at the last min. We requested if only the couch could be replaced as the couch could not be used at all they said not possible very rudely. They did not even fix our hot plate for 2 weeks. All this time we have been extremely patient with all the issues we were having. After 3 weeks we found a place and decided to move out. When I went to inform them that I am moving out and to get our final bill, I asked her very nicely if they could give some discount. Lady at the front desk said in fact we owe them as we are checking out one week early (their reservations rates are weekly and not monthly). She said we have to pay now daily rate and as our rate was monthly which was completely nonsense as I have their email clearly stating weekly rate. Suddenly this manager comes out of no where and starts yelling at me saying "you guys all want to stay for free", go stay for free, go I give you everything for free" I was so shocked to see his this behavior. It was an extremely racist comment I have ever heard in my life that too in a place like Orange county, California. Seriously!!!!! I am paying them $3700 to stay in a hotel --does he think I am so cheap or broke or here for a scam that I would in my right mind say that I want to stay for free? I called their customer service so many times to complaint and no one is calling me back and keep saying someone will call. This is so frustrating and disappointing to be treated like this. I seriously want to take this up further as that manager should be fired. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone in my life. MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVER.
Dont pay ahead of Time

The first time I stayed here in January, my door lock did not work, every time I had to get in my unit, I had to go to the office and wait for someone to let me in. (multiple locks were not working and they had repairmen there). When I tried to check out 2 days earlier, they said I would have to contact expedia, They could not change my charge. OK I ate those 2 days. I booked them directly for 5 days. Well, this time I was on site at 3:30 (check in is 3:00). I had to wait until 5. I checked in and went to eat. I inspected the room when I got back, there was black mold around the whole tub surround, no toilet paper and the heater fan made a constant noise every time it turned on. In the morning I checked out and was assured they would only charge me for the one night. Well two days later they charged me for all 5, I called twice and was told the manager would have to get back to me. I eventually told my card company to take the charge off. Three weeks later it came back. Now I have to go somewhere else. BBB maybe? I have photos! What a rip off.
Not a hotel I will be staying at again

When I read the other reviews of this property they seemed to fall into two camps: Worst hotel I ever stayed at or First Class Hotel. I always wonder when I see that which are the true reviews. If my stay is indicative of the property, I would say 2 stars is probably a fair score. I will give you the positive and the negatives and try to be fair. Safety and Check in: When I checked in there were two police cars with the lights going in the lobby not letting people into the lobby while they discussed something with the check in people. So I am assuming the reviews that discuss vandalism of cars is probably correct. Cleanliness: The floor and the bed were clean. The bathtub and countertops were bad. The bathtub had mold in the caulking and several discolored patches. I did not use the shower in the two days I was there. The countertops were sticky. I ended up cleaning them myself (it was that bad). The towels ran the gamut from white to dingy gray. I recommend they switch to black towels because while they clearly started the same color they aren't the same color anymore and it makes them look less clean. Bugs: I did not see any bugs. Other reviews mentioned this, so this may be an old problem or in a different building / floor. Bed: Creaky but serviceable. The sheets were thin (If I was actually staying there as an extended stay, I would probably bring my own blanket) and appeared clean. Size: I stayed in a king "Suite". It was sized okay, smaller than a Hyatt Place room but bigger than a Motel 6. It had a small love seat facing a TV, room for the bed and a tiny kitchenette and bathroom. No desk area but I used the counter in the kitchen for using my laptop. Internet: Free internet but it gives you a "This is only suitable for surfing the web, pay money to go 2.5x faster." Other than about a 10 minute period, the free version was fast enough for me to play YouTube and a video game. Parking: It wasn't as bad as I feared. I was able to find a parking spot each time. Is this the hotel for you? I guess if you are staying somewhere for a month and are willing to clean the room and they give you a killer deal, maybe. Am I going to be staying there again? I stay in this area 2 days a week for business and unless it is the last room for 20 miles, I wont be staying here again. With one week notice there were plenty of nicer hotels at the same price close by. Recommendations for management: Instead of taking the time to write, "We're sorry we didn't live up to your expectations, we take your concerns seriously," spend some time working with the cleaning staff to supervise their work. If the property was clean, my guess is your score would go up one full point.
Unfriendly Management and Dirty Rooms

This hotel has a history of vandalism to their resident’s vehicles and police interventions. Also, pest control is lacking as they have roaches that are up to 3” in length. Additionally, management does not care about First Responders and other workers who work to the early hours of the morning as management could care less if parking is available for these hard workers when they return to their hotel room. Prior management respected these workers and allowed them to reserve parking spaces near their rooms with the use of orange construction cones, but the current management discontinued this courtesy and throws away the cones leaving the residents to hunt for parking spaces in the early morning. Never mind the fact that these construction cones are the personal property of the residents.
