Lovely Ploughman's lunch in the garden

We have visited in the past and it's been good so popped in for lunch en route home on a Saturday. The garden is large and well laid out with plenty of sunny and shady places to sit. It's great they have put a bar and ordering station in the garden. The fish special sounded very nice at good value at £13 but we decided on a shared Ploughmans and 2 local ciders, We were able to order quickly but it took a while for the food to arrive as there was only one server who was just amazing but rushed off her feet. Nice ham, lovely cheddar and stilton cheeses and the slices of sausage roll were delicious, could have done with some more of that! Our only minor criticism was the addition of a local apple or some grapes would have been nice and there was only one slice of sourdough each but it wasn't a problem when we asked for more and we weren't charged. We overheard others asking for more bread with theirs so perhaps they could consider increasing this as standard. It's reasonably priced given the quality ingredients and setting. It's a bit far away to visit regularly but it's definitely at the top of our list when we're in the area.

Terrific Toasties in a great setting

The Three Cheese Toasties at the Ring O Bells are the best. I rate them higher than the legendary Kappacasein in Borough Market. Magnificent with a pint (albeit in a plastic cup) and enjoyed at a table on the grassy lawn behind the pub. Friendly staff too.

Village pub with a warm welcome

Spent two nights here, had a warm welcome from Honor. Our lovely room was clean and comfortable, just right for us and our dog. This is a big pub, big garden, kids play area, and lovely food. Their full English breakfast is not for the faint-hearted, but beautifully presented and delicious. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff, Charlotte was brilliant, giving us advice on dog-friendly places to walk, as well as serving our food and drink. We look forward to visiting again soon.

A very fine pub with excellent food and wonderful staff. I am finding pub music more and more annoying as my hearing deteriorates. I am a bit timid asking for it to be turned down. "Of course, she said, you come here to chat. Such a very fine response. THANK YOU

Amazing! Friendly staff, lovely atmosphere and the food was delicious. Lovely big garden too which would be lovely in the warm weather! Thank you so much to the staff, we didn’t think we’d find dinner as most places near our accommodation were closed and then it was delicious!
