Average is the new Normal

We had a nice stay overall. Like every other hotel we've stayed in recently, it just seems like there are too many guests and/or not enough staff to maintain a high standard of customer service. It's classified as a 3-star hotel and the quality, in my opinion, is set firmly in that territory. The location is the best part. Easy to hop on the interstate and get anywhere plus you can go on foot to shop/dine in the Legends area. We were also in town for a Sporting KC match and the stadium was a very easy walk despite the hot weather. Cleanliness of common areas and rooms starts to become an issue with overcrowding/understaffing. The room was adequate but in need of a refreshing/deep cleaning of the grout, trim, couch cushions, peeling wallpaper, etc. Morning breakfast options, also 3-star. Cereals, pastries, waffle maker, various hot options. Coffee always seemed to be available as was a large ice water dispenser to help guests fight the extreme heat. A nice touch. The staff we interacted with were helpful, they just seemed so burned out and tired and didn't have a lot of excitement to welcome us or go above and beyond. I really do feel for people in the hospitality world right now. Must be very difficult. Don't be fooled by my 3-star (average) score. This might be the best option in the Legends area if you're looking for the convenience factor. Sometimes 'just ok' is good enough.

Decent hotel but what is that smell?!?!?!?

We spent a week on Branson Missouri. We flew in from New York to Kansas City. Being that we were flying home from KC we spent the last few nights of our vacation in KC to be closer to the airport. The location of the hotel is fantastic. Right across from legends outlets. The hotel is a stones throw from Shops, restaurants , and entertainment. There is also a target and Walmart within a short walking distance. First impressions the hotel lobby was very nice. It was clean and well appointed. The staff also very wonderful and helpful. We had a king suite with sofa bed for our family of four. Initially when we booked it was indicated that rollaway beds were available. That was NOT the case. We were forced to use the very janky and uncomfortable sofa bed. Being that it’s only two nights we dealt with it. The one thing I cannot get last is the odor in this hotel. The hallways smell like an old casino (think stale cigarette smoke and cheap cologne) when we opened the door to our room we were smacked in the face with a stench of must and dampness. My kids said it smelled like an “old person” my wife says it smells like smoke but I smell dampness. Like wet rugs that were never replaced. We inquired with the front desk and the best they could offer was a can of air freshener. It masked it for a little while but the smell breaks through eventually. It’s just two nights I keep telling myself. So my family and I will power through this. At over 200 dollars a night I certainly expected much more.

Great place to stay

We’ve stayed at this hotel several times. It’s a perfect stopping place for us driving across the country. Close to I70, near very good restaurants, and a safe neighborhood. The hotel is very clean and well maintained. We really like the fully equipped kitchen. And the staff has always treated us extremely well. I even left my iPad behind and Ashley found it and sent it to me. I received it safe and sound, quickly with no problem. Thank you Ashley. If this general area fits your needs, don’t hesitate. Especially if you are in the Marriott family.

Good location and well appointed property

We stayed May 2022- two adults and one toddler. We arrived around 415p to check in and our room was ready. We were greeted by a friendly clerk and our keys were prepared. Breakfast on a Sunday would start at 7a and go to 930. We didn’t have a chance to enjoy breakfast but it did smell amazing in the elevator and lobby! We booked a King Suite and it worked well for our family. We have a Slumberpod and Hiccapop toddler bed and there was ample room in the main area of the suite to set up. We had plenty of outlets for the sound machine and crib camera. (It’s been a couple of years since we’ve traveled!) The room was very clean and felt recently remodeled. We were in room 225 and I don’t believe we ever heard other doors close or anyone in the hallway- which was great. All of the front desk staff was friendly and informative. Very adjacent to Legends Outlets- it was so nice to just walk over from the parking lot and know you didn’t have a long walk back. We could have walked to Children’s Mercy Park for graduation but weather didn’t help us out for that. The only “complaint” we had was the parking lot/outside. There’s construction next door and the parking lot is adjacent to an active construction site. We had to circle the property to determine the true front door (the building is marked, but there’s no overhang in case of rain and really not much signage to clearly mark the front door.) I also worried about driving over construction materials. There’s not a consecutive sidewalk around the property and some very blind corners- it was not fun to walk a toddler to the car. It’s not really anything the hotel can help- but other travelers might appreciate the heads up. Great location for the area- we’d stay here again if the need arises. Use Parallel Pkwy instead of State Ave if possible- it’s right there!

Great location, bad customer service

Second floor smelled strongly like someone smoked and then sprayed air freshener every day we were there (4 days). One morning it was 35 and a small window by the elevator was left open. Took our kids to the pool and one of them almost stepped on a rolled “cigarette” We told the front desk and were assured someone would come get it. When we left, no one had come so we reminded the front desk. The next night, we came to swim again and it was still there along with used band aids laying out. Room size was great, quiet at night, but would not stay again due to smell and lack of follow through.
