Disappointing, frustrating stay

I just got back for a stay at Citadines Penang, which to me was near perfection for the price paid. I expected the same from ASR Citadines Uplands Kuching - unfortunately was NOT the same standards, it was vast different standards and greatly disappointing to say the least. I changed rooms twice in 4days and yet.. cleanliness was sub-standards. Shower stall, shower head and bidet was filled w grime and mildew. Lavatory was dirty (again to keep it simple!) sheets were stained with hair strands, duvet and pillows thread bare and worn, room was musty, kitchenette was rusted moldy and dirty. Wardrobe was stained and had a pungent smell. Only thing new was the hairdryer! I spent the better half of my stay wiping the place down w sanitising wipes and generally kept the “cleaned” places. Staff was friendly but not helpful at all. To me this isn’t a business travellers class hotel. I urge the management to spend time (and money) to look into the basics… the cleanliness of the room! Disappointing disappointing Disappointing!

I have booked for my stay. I have tried to contact the receptionist to ask for a room with washing machine facilities in it. But the reception told me, if I can't get a room that has a washing machine in it. So, I can contact who can help me to get a room with washing machine facilities.

Poor Maintainance of Room Faciliites

The room rate for stay is not cheap refer the brande name of the group. But suprisingly the maintainece of the room facilities is very bad. The room is with stingy smell and lots of ceiling and wall is mouldy especially shower room area. The sofa and fridge never clean and all waste and dust is stick at the furniture. The bed which i slept really bad of stingy urine smell. Im can't sleep for the whole night because of the smell from the bed. Im definitely will not back again Here just want to share to others who consider to stay at here with expectation charged by expensive stay rate. And my room is facing to main road with can heard the noisy engine sound during mid night.

Check in was a breeze at the Reception on 2nd floor at Citadines Uplands Kuching. Room 306 is a home away from home service apartment fully equipped with kitchen cooking equipments & utensils . It has a big balcony with city view, a king size bed but the pillow smells like stale shred, and the music could be heard through the thin glazing of the sliding door to the balcony makes my sleep very uncomfortable. Breakfast boxes served to my room is not to my liking, i prefer to have hot breakfast menu in a Hotel Coffee House. Location is good surrounded by shopping mall and eateries within walking distance.

We booked here because we were visiting Kuching just as Malaysia was emerging from COVID and few hotels had yet resumed their service. The hotel is very convenient to the hotel and to the huge shopping mall across the street but the location is no ideal for the general tourist attractions of Kuching. And, while we did walk from the hotel to the downtown, riverfront area, there is no safe and continuous sidewalk so we ended up taking taxis more often. The room was pretty large and while somewhat basic, it had everything we needed. The water pressure was great as was the hot water and A/C. The pool was a nice amenity after long hot days in the sun too. Had there been more options in the riverfront area, we would have preferred to go there to find a room.
