Noisy Kids Running Everywhere
This hotel appears nice until you stay there and find out that your comfort is not the concern of the management - only the money. Kids running through the hotel are never asked to stop - the hotel is no better than a “camp ground”. Loud parents and their loud children at breakfast. If you are in a couple, think again about enjoying a relaxing vacation in this hotel. The management are disgusting. They avoid taking any blame or resolving anything. The female manager doesn’t do her job but spends her time hiding in the back. The general manager is a ghost and terribly rude on the phone. There are photos of kids relaxing on the lobby floor and making messes with their games, but Trip Advisor took them down, but THE PROOF IS IN THE PUDDING! Avoid unless you are also loud and don’t mind vacationing in a crèche (pool too). In the Hamam The was an entire family with kids, taking all the place. The youngest, aged 4. It’s dangerous for kids. Not a chic experience by any means !!!!

The management is totally not sensitive to the customers. The fire alarm that went off on Tuesday night August 27 could have been followed by a communication by the management explaining what happened to re-assure the residents and apologize for the inconvenience. The receptionist on our departure day, Thursday August 29, did not inform the concierge of our request to pick up our luggages; I believe her name was Audrey. My parents in law, who are elderly aged, requested a room on the first floor upon booking but did not get it, they stayed on the second floor. My sister in law and her kids got a room for disabled persons which we specifically did not request. Besides that the hotel was nice, the rest of the staff very friendly and the food very good. But this hotel can do better when you are part of the group Barriere.
If you love kids all over the place, even in a luxury hotel, making noise, running in the hallway, and babies toddling at the 11pm lounge with live music, then this is the hotel for you. Especially elegant: kids sitting on the floor of the lobby near midnight, playing cards and being loud: 5 Stars? You would think the management would say SOMETHING....but no. See photo.

As good as it appears this is really a 4 star not 5 star hotel. Location excellent and rooms very comfortable. A little tired in places, especially the spa and fitness areas. Would have rated higher but the hotel restaurant was terrible. Food very average and waited 75mins between starter and main course - and it wasnt busy. Insulting to offer to discount of one Diet Coke for inconvenience!! Could it get worse? Yes. Our 172 euro meal appeared the next morning as 320 euros on the bill with no explanation of the error. Won’t rush back there are better in La Baule.
From the moment we parked outside we knew this was going to be special. We pulled up to the hotel and were greeted by a tall, helpful, kind and friendly member of staff. He took my bags and keys and asked me to go inside to check in. We were again greeted by a very professional receptionist who took the time to go through the check in process, showing me the restaurant, pool and room. N.B. It was our 5th wedding anniversary and had been traveling back from Bordeaux to St Malo stopping in La Baule for one night. I emailed the hotel advising them of our anniversary. We were not expecting anything at all however, the receptionist mentioned that they had upgraded us to a junior suite! We walked into the beautiful room and was greeted with a bottle of champagne and a delicious cake. The indoor pool was incredible, the food has been divine! We will certainly be coming back here very soon. Thank you to the manager for the welcome letter and for employing the very best staff. Superb!
