Fabulous Extended Stay (Marriott) Hotel in Hanover-Lebanon, NH, Upper Valley, NH/VT
I read a Tripadvisor review for the Residence Inn by Marriott Hanover Lebanon, and thought to myself, that review is spot on; then I realized that that review (below) was written by me, in March 2020. I wish I could say that I remember writing that review, but I don't. I, do, however, agree with everything that I wrote, and, of note, the Residence Inn Hanover Lebanon is as consistent 9 months later, as it was, 9 months earlier, even despite the formidable challenges of operating a hotel during the Covid 19 Pandemic. MOST IMPORTANTLY, DURING MULTIPLE VISITS TO THE RESIDENCE INN BY MARRIOTT HANOVER LEBANON DURING THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC, I CONSISTENTLY FEEL SAFE. The hotel is making an all-out effort to maintain a safe environment for their guests. There have been some changes at the Residence Inn Hanover Lebanon, since my March 2020 Tripadvisor review , that are worthy of mention, they are as follows: The hotel is very, very attentive to minimizing the potential transmission of Covid 19. The hotel is immaculate, and brings new meaning to the words clean, spotless, and sanitary; Fortunately, the (former) Mexican restaurant, next door to the Residence Inn, has been replaced by a restaurant named, Snax, owned by the same people who own local restaurant greats Molly's and Jesse's. This is a huge, new benefit, as it puts a great restaurant, immediately beside the Residence Inn (neither the former Mexican restaurant, or Snax, are affiliated with the Residence Inn); Breakfast fare has taken on Marriott's menu for Covid 19; much of what you may have been accustomed to, of the pre-Covid 19 Residence Inn fare, is gone, replaced by hygienic options (e.g. individually packaged) for your safety. There is still fresh coffee, orange juice, milk, and boxed cereals. There are bagels and English muffins in a bag, hard boiled eggs, (whole) fresh fruit, and muffins and pastry. The location, ambiance, staff, and cleanliness of the Residence Inn Hanover Lebanon makes the hotel a leading choice hotel in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire/Vermont, immediately beside Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and Dartmouth College. My March 2020 Tripadvisor review of the Residence Inn by Marriott Hanover Lebanon: The Residence Inn Hanover-Lebanon is a fabulously managed and staffed hotel. The staff are welcoming, cordial, and professional, they are consummate Marriott professionals. The hotel is ideally located, with convenient access to the Upper Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire, Dartmouth College, Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Woodstock, VT, Killington, VT, downtown Hanover, NH, Quechee, VT, Simon Pearce's premier glassblowing operation, anchor store, and fine dining restaurant in Quechee, VT, Pompanoosuc Mills factory and showroom in East Thetford, VT, and Lebanon Airport. Beside the hotel, is a superb, local, Coop supermarket, a Mexican restaurant (only OK, but within feet of the hotel), and an outstanding fitness facility (with pool), The River Valley Club. The hotel offers studio, one-bedroom, and maybe a two-bedroom accommodation. The rooms are functional and clean. Breakfast is standard Residence Inn fare, and fortunately the Brand Police at Marriott International have not yet eliminated fresh cooked daily oatmeal, at the Residence Inn, as they have at Element hotels. With unwavering confidence, I consider the Residence Inn Hanover-Lebanon to be a rock solid, classic Marriott, lodging option in the Upper Valley/Dartmouth College area.
Very Clean, Very Comfortable....but lax on Covid safety
On a 4 day visit in early August, 2020, I found the Residence Inn extremely clean , comfortable and well run. The rooms are large , very clean and the kitchen amenities well provided. Due to the pandemic, the hotel is doing the best it can with providing breakfast in a bag. The concierge was polite and very helpful. This was my second experience here and it is a really excellent hotel. But I was very concerned that I encountered two different staff in the elevator and hallways who were not wearing their masks over their faces, but instead around their necks. For that reason I avoided any room service, which was limited anyway. I hope they address this with their staff. Otherwise, I can recommend this hotel highly.
Decent experience on site but service after staying leaves a bad taste
Came here to stay when the leaves were changing colors. I stayed here for three nights: 24SEP-26SEP2020 and 27SEP2020 and split it into two reservations since I wanted to use my annual certificate (perk of credit card) for the last night. Overall, we had a good time at the hotel. At the entrance, masks are provided if you don't have one. The cleaning protocols also look nice. Next to the mask there is hand sanitizer and there is also a bucket with cleaning solution where guests can throw their used room card in. We did feel safe. Sleep quality is good and the room was spacious and nice. The property is also located near major highway. Within half an hour we were in Quichee Gorge. Dartmouth is also just a few miles away. You can choose to dine in either downtown area (Hanover or Lebanon). It's a good location. But what really leaves a bad taste is the service after our stay. A few days later, I saw the last night of elite credit being posted but strangely the first two night had not been posted at the time. I made a call to the property and was transferred to the operational manager. Left a voice message with my phone number. No answer. On day 10, I made another call, front desk again transferred me to operational manager. Left another voice massage stating this is the second message I left and also my phone number. Again, no answer. I finally submitted a missing night report on Marriott's website. I would have given this property a four star but due to this unpleasant experience of absence of an inquiry, I have to take two stars off since the lack of response happened twice. I do feel bad that I had to assign a one star to service since the front desk was pleasant but the experience of my inquiries not being answered really is bad.
DHMC appointment
The Residence Inn went above and beyond to make our stay a very pleasant one during this difficult time for all. Only people with appts at DHMC could stay, so they upgraded us to make our stay more comfortable. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was very kind and couldn’t have been nicer. Would definitely stay here again if the need arises to be back at DHMC
