Fab little gem of a hotel
Stayed here just for somewhere to touch base as my daughter is at Uni there but found it fantastic . Will definitely book again . We are on the evening and food was reasonable plus a generous breakfast.
A budget hotel with very friendly staff
I stayed in this hotel for about three weeks as it was booked by my company so can share a lot. 1. I can say this is a budget hotel because the rates are cheaper than hotels at City centre 2. The rooms have very less lights and becomes an issue for working long hours.they definitely need couple of more lights so that it is not depressing. 3. There are no cupboards in the room and for long stay you have to keep clothes hanging in the open 4. Coming to the good part - it is the staff that makes this hotel worth staying because they help you all the way. They help you with cutlery for meals in room and also usage of microwave in common room. They would also give best advice for manchester with patience. 5. Location is ok and you have to take bus 201 and 203 opposite McDonald's for going to city centre. Tesco is at 10 min walk along with sub way 6. There is debdale park adjacent to hotel to spend peaceful time 7.breakfast is good but doesn't change and I suggest they should have more options like omelette on few days and more fruits The hotel definitely needs a make over for the name holiday inn. A big thumbs up for staff which makes the rating to 3.5 instead of 3. So score is 3.5/5. Drop a message for any details if required.
Great hotel in good location
Great HI express with good attentive staff. Clean rooms and good breakfast choice. Rooms very clean with nice thick towels and good hot powerful shower. Would definitely stay again as everything was perfect.
Excellent staff
I stayed here recently taking children with special educational needs on a school trip to Manchester. We arrived to the hotel about 11.15pm after a long day travelling and a football match so we had a lot of tired children checking in. But the staff were so accommodating and understanding to our requests and also provided some food to our group at such a late hour. The hotel itself is clean and modern and provides an excellent breakfast in the morning. I would highly recommend it to anyone travelling as part of a tour group.
OK (ish)
I phoned prior to my stay, and was told that the hotel was less than 5 minutes walk away from Belle Vue train station by a male member of staff. Turns about to be false (as we were more than a mile away with luggage so we could not walk there) and we had to flag down a cab. Stayed for 1 night a family of 3 with breakfast £58.99. Super check in with a lovely member of staff who was very efficient and welcoming (the pregnant lady). The room was average if a little tired. My 11 year old daughter and me shared the double bed whilst my friend had the sofabed. However, although the room was very clean, the matres was sunken in from heavy usage (room 102), and I did not sleep well and had a sore neck. My daughter could not get to sleep either, so we had a bit of a rough night. I had forgotten that Holiday Inn do not do baths it is only showers. After that night I could have done with a bath just to relax the muscles. What lets this hotel down are the prices - shocking!!! £5.95 for a pint of cider!!! £2.75 for a diet coke and £4.50 for a child's pizza - those mini palm-sized ones you get from Tesco for 50p The staff were very nice and apologetic about the rip off prices. The next day breakfast was OK and plentiful. I asked for gluten free bread which I got toasted, and gluten free vegetarian sausages. The sausages were not gluten free and I ended up with diarrhoea and itchy skin. We had a couple of hours to kill so I asked if there was anything to do in the area, and was told not. We arrived in the dark and did not know the area, we were pleasantly surprised to find Debdale park next door - a huge spiralling park with so many things to do and see. How did the staff miss this? On the plus side we did get a ground floor room. And the staff are really nice, but it is worth looking else wear if you are in the area.
