Hostile Early Check-In Policy
I stayed 13 - 17 March 2020. Wanted to call out as amazing service the club lounge and its amenities, especially lounge staff Yuki and Tuan. Also loved the location - wonderfully near to shops, bars and restaurants. The main entrance is a bit quirky, situated in a grimy alley way. Two negatives for me though. One, i had just arrived on an overnight flight. While i don’t expect to be able to check in at 930am, it was more gutting when i was first told that there was a room available but i had to pay $40 for it. And it was stated as $20 after 10am only after i enquired. When asked why this was so when room was ready, Mira the receptionist blithely replied that maybe there might be another guest willing to do it if i chose not to. Understand the profit motive but it left a sour taste. Two, on the night of 15 Mar, there was a stench that grew increasingly foul as the night wore on, making it hard for my partner and me to sleep. Hotel helped to spray something but it didn’t help much and we didn’t get any follow up despite reassurances by management that there would be. Oh well!
Melbourne F1 2020
We stay here every year for the Melbourne F1 Grand Prix. This year the race was cancelled and the staff were exceptional in helping us re-arrange our booking. A great hotel, in a great location, with fantastic staff. Will see you again next year
Great location
I booked this hotel through the main Accor site & there were issues booking so finally got a confirmation the 2nd time I tried to book. Our room wasn't ready when I arrived so I was a bit disappointed about that as I had been travelling early that morning. The room should have been ready to check in @ 2pm but it was after 3.30pm before I got a key. I didn't get an explanation about why the room wasn't ready but Mary @ the front desk was having some kind of coded conversation with housekeeping which I found a bit rude! However this was the only issue i had with the staff as everyone else was very helpful & the staff @ the guest services desk were do informative & helpful every time we needed help. The room itself was great, beds were very comfortable. The only criticism i have is the bathroom was small & very impractical with no where to hang your towels. The hotel has an great location & it is definitely a good choice for a visit to Melbourne.
Comfortable stay
My daughter and I stayed 2 nights and requested a quiet room at the back of the hotel away from buskers music, tram dings and sirens. We had a peaceful stay right in the heart of the city. Breakfast was exceptional. We chose the continental buffet and it was full of quality products and touches like stewed rubarb and raspberries which were thoughtful and creative. You can also add an a' l a carte Dinner was equally good. Delicious both nights and the service was friendly and prompt. This hotel actually texts you the day before arrival to see if you have any special requirements and check via txts throughout your stay. So I was able to request different pillows. The rooms have i pads so you can book restaurants easily and my daughter was impressed to find a high quality hair straightner as well as a hair dryer. The only negative I could state is that I paid eftpos rather than credit card and this seemed to throw them a bit and I discovered a $1 fee pending on my credit card which was weird. No big deal but why? Any way we totally relaxing enjoyable stay.
Very good stay - great service by a charming team.
I loved my stay at this hotel, so much so that I am planning to come back soon. The ladies of the executive lounge are just absolutely superb, they reminded me of business class experience on Singapore airlines. Thank you Diana, Devyani and Yuki for making my stay so comfortable. The men of the hotel are quite charming and always ready to help, thank you Kevin, Chad and David. Francia and Mira thank you for making the check - in experience effortless. I can't wait to see you all again soon.
