Holiday

Could be a nice hotel, but facilities poor, not enough sun beds... You have to get up before dawn to stand any chance of getting a sun bed... No where near enough for the amount of rooms, plus those there are are falling to bits, so it's not a relaxing holiday as the main thing you want on a holiday is at least a sun bed, shortage of pool towels, & when you can get a fresh one they're really poor quality... I could go on & on about the rooms etc which are also in poor condition, so for me I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone unless you want to have a stressful holiday & willing to set your alarm for 5 in the morning to stand any chance of getting a sun bed ..

I’ll give this hotel a fair shout in that it’s in good condition and well kept . Our room was fantastic and had the usual , huge bed , fridge ,kettle with coffee , tea etc tv and sea view. On our first morning we went to breakfast on the first floor of the hotel and here is where the gripes started. I’ve been on enough holidays to know that the breakfast is never going to hit the highs of back home so I usually go for something safe like egg on toast or bacon roll . Unfortunately the hotel only provides 1 small toaster for the guests to use and the queue to use it was 6-8 deep most of the time the same goes for the eggs too , you have to get in line to receive an egg or two so that put me off straight away. There are however plenty of fruit, cereals and cold meats if that floats your boat .We never ate in the hotel restaurant for dinner as we were only bed and breakfast and prefer to eat outside of hotels on holiday so cannot comment on the dinner side of things . The hotel is in an elevated position on a hillside and the views are spectacular and boukari is a small coastal village with a few beachside tavernas and a small supermarket . We hired a car from boukari car rentals which is also in the village to explore the island with and it cost 600 euros for 10 days of hire . If exploring the island is not your thing and you like staying at the hotel the whole holiday then be aware that the sun loungers are all taken by the towel brigade by 7-7.15 am at the latest so to be sure of getting one and early rise is essential. Oh and an early morning swim is out of the question as the pool is chained off for some strange reason until 10 am !

Fifth time in Corfu, first here. Stayed for 11 nights in September on a Bed and Breakfast basis. Had a really lovely time. Getting it right - Hotel really clean, staff are great and very friendly. Breakfasts are amazing with everything you could possibly want. Special recognition to the ladies on the egg/pancake station who were really friendly and always working hard and the lady serving the Greek coffee. Voula and Lita were very attentive when we ate in the rooftop restaurant. Food was delicious here and the cocktails really amazing. Gorgeous view! We were in block 4000 overlooking the sea. Gorgeous. Rooms seemed pretty sound proof. We were also overlooking the rooms with private pool which, if you are thinking about one of them, be warned they are not secluded and those above you can see. Fridge in the room and daily water left by cleaners even for those on a B&B basis. Points to work on - Sun beds are an issue with mad dash for them from 7am but as late rises we always managed to find one even if it was on the small beach area. Music! Now we love music but it was everywhere at all times of the day. Some quiet areas would be great around at least one pool. Paper cups for drinks round the pool. Ewww. Should invest in some plastic wine vessels. Other point of interest I would absolutely encourage you to eat out as there are at least 6 great restaurants within a 15/20 minute walk, all overlooking the sea. Potamaki probably the most authentic experience with the inspirational 81 years young chef. We hired bikes from the hotel and cycled to Agios Nikolas and then back to Mesonghi stopping for sunbathing and food. Pretty hilly so you have to be fairly fit. 20e for the day. We also walked to Church of the Archangels in Chlomos 6 miles round trip with two of those being uphill but you are rewarded with the mat amazing views from what is dubbed ‘the balcony of Corfu’. The church itself is tiny and wasn’t open but the graveyard was and the view was well worth it. Chlomos is also a traditional Greek village and there is a great restaurant and cafe there where you can take in the view after your climb. Follow Google maps for car rather than walk as the latter takes you via private property. Don’t worry if you come to some places that would not get a car through…. It does get you where you need to be despite a clamber over a few bushes. To summarise, a great hotel which as others have said needs a few tweaks to make it 5 star. But you get what you pay for and we had a really lovely time!

The facilities were of a high standard apart from the entertainment which was a little lack lustre. The the staff provided a unique experience with their professional and welcoming service. Ria, Sophia, Stella, Rodula and Irini are the names I remember but all the staff were wonderful. Markela and the boys in the pool bar gave exceptional service throughout the day and evening. They were friendly and lovely to talk to when they were not busy, which was not very often. All the staff made you feel special and treasured such was their professionalism and skill. Great Hotel/Area if you would just like to relax, we were all inclusive. The staff are very hard working and are super friendly and are willing to help at anytime of the day! Rooms are a great size and are always nice and clean. Having a mini bar in the room was great, when coming back from laying in the sun all day, as it allowed us to have a drink and relax on the balcony. The Buffet was great. I am celiac so was a little worried, however I met up with the head Chef Alex who walked with me around the restaurant to tell me what dishes were gluten free. Gluten free bread and cereal was also available when asked. The beach bar is lovely and has a nice set menu. The rooftop bar has amazing cocktails however the seats do get taken pretty quickly, so I suggest going towards the end of the night. Great music entertainment provided. I'd also recommend going to the pool closer to the beach as it is much quieter, but just doesn't have the swim up bar. Only negatives I would say about this hotel is that they need to get more sunbeds! Throughout the stay we only just got sunbeds. I would also like to point out that the hotels trips they do are hugely expensive. If you walk just round the road you'll see Messonghi Travel who are great at and inexpensive when it comes to trips such as Corfu Town and Blue Lagoon Overall I would recommend going to this hotel!
