The Hotel of Terror

One of the most terrifying and outrageous experiences, some guests were taken in the middle of the night to the street by the same "owner" reason: the key he gave them did not work had another one at the door and at night in full curfew I take them to the street. If you can organize your trip and have an unforgettable moment leave this hotel off your list because the experience will be miserable and very unfortunate. Don't give money to xenophobes.
Avoid this hotel! Many better places in Merida!

We recently stayed at Mansion Merida, its advantages: location, price, waiter service.
Before continuing with the review is important to mention that there are very good lodging options in Merida, this hotel is a danger for guests - rude and terrible guest treatment!
Let me explain, we had a reservation for 2 rooms for 4 nights (prepaid), the first day we arrived around 4pm, when we checked-in they informed us of the COVID curfew imposed by the municipality started at 11pm, the hotel door would be open until 10pm and then there would be a nightstand to open the door. Around 7:00 pm we went out for dinner at a nearby restaurant in order to get back on time. We returned at 9:20 pm, to our surprise the door was closed.
We realized that along with the room key there was another key with a main door sign, we tried to open multiple times without success, called 6 times the hotel and sent 5 WhatsApp messages unfortunately nobody answered. At the end we decided to knock on the door.
After a while a guy opened, who seemed to be under the influence of alcohol, extremely annoyed because we had knocked. To be short, the man began to be rode and with a belligerent attitude, we tried to calm him, instead he reacted, "I am the owner and receive whoever I want and with my own rules". Since he did not want us to continue staying at the hotel, we asked him to refund the payment, he replied that we had to leave, and that he would not refund the payments.
The police had to be called to try to solve this matter, who when listening to the two versions and watching the video (one of us as a precaution recorded the incident) and tried to open the door without success, asked the owner of the hotel that he should honor the contract, which we accepted given that it was very late, around 11:30pm. Two of us are senior citizens.
All suffered from food poisoning after consuming food at the hotel, we got so sick that I had to call for the doctor. The hotel staff confidentially let us know that this happened frequently when eating at the hotel.
Before the last day we decided to shorten the trip and lose the money that have already been paid.
Top notch boutique hotel!

Mansion Merida lived up to every expectation we had for a gorgeous getaway! It is a beautiful colonial mansion, the place is spotless the beds are comfy, the rooms are large and gorgeous.
The food is some of the best I’ve ever had, brunch is lovely and they have live music Fridays and weekends.
The service is amazing, the staff and the owner are very helpful, friendly and go above and beyond to make you feel at home, it was like staying in your own private luxury mansion.
The location is very good, within walking distance of many attractions. The main plaza is a block away, there’s a Starbucks next to the hotel and you can exchange money across the hotel.
This is simply one of the very finest small boutique hotels that we have ever had the pleasure to experience.
