Dirty bed and forced to clean myself
Avaliou em 6 de março de 2023
We checked in to our room around five after a long travel day. I went to relax in the bed and there were stains in it. There were crumbs in the sheets as well. It was very clear that someone had used the bed and it was just remade, not washed. When I called the front desk, I was shocked to hear I had to come downstairs myself to collect new bedding and change it myself. When I tried to talk to the desk clerk, she rolled her eyes in my face, refused to give me her name, and asked what I expected her to do. I said it wasn’t okay to give guests dirty rooms and expect them to clean it. She was the rudest human being and while reading other reviews, she has done this before. Management needs to step in and corporate should be ashamed.

Extremely Disappointing

I guess I’ll start with the good part. The young woman who checked me in after midnight was very nice. She did check me into a dirty room, but I went back down and she upgraded my room for the inconvenience. Honestly I wouldn’t have cared if I didn’t get an upgrade or anything. I know it’s not her fault. But alas, my boyfriend and I spilled coffee on the sheets and I called and asked the next day if they could just bring me a set of sheets. The young man who answered the phone said his relief would be there in about 45 minutes and then he could bring them and I thanked him and told him that wouldn’t be a problem. Well… he never came. Then I got on the app and requested sheets. No one ever even responded. So then the next day I stopped at the front desk and asked the girl working if they could bring me up another set of sheets. I watched her write it down and everything. The sheets never came. I finally tried the day before I was checking out (I stayed 5 nights!) to use the app again. They did respond this time and I had my room serviced by housekeeping that day. It’s really ridiculous that it took THAT many times for me to FINALLY get new sheets. The cleanliness of the rooms was just okay. I don’t think that the tissue holder has ever been wiped down. I have worked in hotels, including housekeeping, so I know how hard that job is, so yeah, a few stray hairs in the shower is not a big deal to me. I know how challenging it is to get it all. The couch in my room though, had some gross stains on it. I tried not to touch that at all. I did notice other things that housekeeping could improve on, like making sure that the iron’s cord is actually wrapped and not just a jumbled mess. I assume there just aren’t any housekeeping supervisors doing checks on the rooms. There couldn’t possibly be with the things in the rooms that I saw. Like the complete mess of cables behind the nightstands and the completely missing door handle on the inside of the bathroom door. There is no way those kind of things could pass inspection. So now the really weird part. I’m pretty sure all of the front desk staff and their children are living on the 4th floor. Walking to the elevator the second day I was there a girl walked out of a room with her kid in tow, and I caught a glimpse of the room with food on the desk, and definitely being inhabited. She then proceeded to ride the elevator down and commence her shift at the front desk as her daughter went into the front office door. She is the one I asked for replacement sheets from. For the remainder of my stay they were in and out of that room and the room next to it. Their kids were loud and roaming the hall between the two rooms back and forth every night, the doors slamming every time. But that’s not all. I definitely heard a dog barking at odd times during my stay. Which is weird since this is a pet free hotel? But I guess when you work the front desk and you’re living there then you can do that? I got confirmation there was indeed a dog in that room on the final day of my stay as there was a big bag of dog food and two dog bowls outside their room. Along with the lanyard of the girl who worked the front desk hanging on the door handle, with her master hotel key on it and everything. That didn’t make me feel all warm and fuzzy about the security of the hotel and my belongings at all. I took my laptop with me each time I left the hotel because I definitely didn’t feel comfortable leaving anything of value in my room from the very beginning. Another thing to note is that NONE of the front desk staff wears uniforms or name tags, making it increasingly difficult to figure out who actually works there and who is just the significant other or friend or what have you hanging around and making themselves at home while the front desk agent somewhat does their job? Housekeeping does wear uniforms and every single one I came across was very nice, hospitable, and extremely professional. My boyfriend and I had breakfast in the restaurant one time, and were less than impressed. The chef was nice, but it was not easy to get service. The whole place was abandoned and we had to stand around and wait until someone came from the back of the kitchen so we could finally get service. I had been really hopeful to have a great breakfast since I’d been staying at hotels with breakfast included lately and that’s been pretty terrible. I thought if I paid for breakfast at a real restaurant I was sure to be in for a treat. I was wrong. I don’t know what was on my eggs Benedict, but I can tell you it definitely wasn’t hollandaise sauce. It was literally swimming in whatever sauce they were trying to pass off as hollandaise. Like it was a soup… and the poached eggs were very very over-cooked. My boyfriend got the egg white omelette and it wasn’t really an omelette as much as it was scrambled egg whites with huge mushrooms kind of just thrown on top. The portions were huge, but the taste of both dishes was very disappointing. We were the only ones in the restaurant so being busy was definitely not the culprit. To top it all off, I was charged wrong on my reservation. I was charged $10.00 more on two of the nights than the other nights. It’s only $20.00, so honestly the time it would take to call and get it adjusted just isn’t worth the hassle, but it was just another very annoying thing to have happen at the end of a pretty disappointing stay. So, in summary, the first and second shifts need to do a better job of making sure that the room statuses are updated and correct. Housekeeping could really use a tune up, I don’t think that the staff should be housing their entire family at the hotel, and I’d they do, they should at least be making sure their kids are not being disruptive and causing security concerns by leaving master keys hanging around. The rooms are extremely dark, even with all the lights on. There was also a light switch that didn’t even do anything, so that was interesting. This probably seems like a whole bunch of complaining, but when I went to college for hospitality management and have worked all the hotel positions from front desk to housekeeping to sales, I see more than most people would. I don’t even normally complain about things from any of my stays. I just inform the front desk of things that could use attention from either housekeeping or maintenance while I’m checking out, because I know I would have appreciated that when I was working front desk. I’m just extremely extremely disappointed by this stay, and I paid more than I’ve paid any other place In Midland to stay here because in thought that a Sheraton property would be of a higher caliber than the Avid and Tru hotels I’d been staying at previously. Unfortunately, I was very very wrong. I would not even entertain staying here again. I’d happily take the scratchy towels at the AVID over staying at the Four Points, because at least at the AVID the service is stellar.

Stayed here on the way to Big Bend national park. Clean and comfortable room for a one night stay. Very convenient to the Midland Airport. Super friendly staff and we enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant. Would stay here again if ever in midland.
