Comfortable and Clean

Avaliou em 17 de março de 2023

A clean and warm hotel with friendly staff set in grounds the hotel is a mix of an old Manor house and a new extension The rooms are clean and basic but have everything you need for the money you can't complain The food was fine and a choice

Clean and comfortable

Avaliou em 13 de março de 2023

A group of us were visiting the area and have previously stayed in Adamton House. The rooms are similar to a Travelodge and were warm, clean and comfortable. 3 star, it’s not the sort of place with a spa and 24hr room service. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and made an extra effort knowing it was a special occasion.

A very good stay in a warm and comfortable chain Hotel. Food was good and the staff went the extra mile to accommodate and help our less mobile members. Do not believe other negative reviews as the hotel does not deserve the criticism. We had members who were put off from going on this excellent weeks holiday because of some of the reviews.

A recommended hotel

We had a 4 night stay. The staff were excellent. We've never had better. The bed was comfortable, the room was clean and warm, there was ample hot water for baths and showers. The food was wholesome and plentiful. We had no problems. The new management staff were working hard to upgrade the hotel successfully.

Upgraded room but issues with bathroom

Avaliou em 6 de março de 2023

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of a coach trip. On arrival we checked our allocated room in the modern annexe which was very small and basic. So we enquired about an upgrade and they sent us to see a room in the old part of the hotel. The approach to the room is very impressive with its ornate panels and grand staircase but the route is convoluted and easy to get lost. The room was spacious with high ceiling and very tall windows and was on top of a castellated turret. Fancy curtains and what looked like a newly refurbished bathroom. So we agreed to pay an extra £10 per person per night. Our initial impression of the room bit by bit turned to disillusion. Firstly we could only get tepid water on the first night, radiator not working so condensation issues and every surface was wet after showering. Both issues reported to receptionist (no action to resolve). No hook to hang clothes/dressing gown. Later the toilet cistern took over 10 mins to refill. Chipped tile and a mess left where a shower screen had been removed. No bedside lamps so you have to get out of bed to turn out the main light, which was so high it was very inadequate and not suitable for this room. Meals were in an enormous ballroom type dining room, accessed down a very steep staircase and no lift. Food was help yourself at the buffet and we always found something to eat and it was nearly always fresh and hot. Puddings were gateau. Breakfasts were excellent but a bit of hit and miss as to whether you were lucky enough to get any fresh fruit. We shared the dining room with about 40 people from Ukraine and possibly other countries - they had slightly earlier eating times. Children were well behaved and mothers cleared away their own tables. Entertainment each evening was two male singers who were both excellent but their backing tracks way too loud. Wine from the very attractive bar was quite expensive at over £16 per bottle. Staff were all very lovely and making an effort to go the extra mile but rooms not serviced at all, although you could ask for clean towels etc.
