Bumped and dumped

Booked 7 months in advance and received confirmation. Arrived and was told my room was cancelled. It's day of the dead week fgs good luck getting a room. They gave me 4 days of 7. The head lady was not friendly or apologetic. Was terse ànd stern.the rate I was given online was perhaps not inline with the high demand over dia Los Muertos?. I was told the rooms were blocked and none were available. I was told it was cancelled the day afte I booked it. I was told I was sent notification. After I said I did not receive any, I was told it was sent twice. Odd?? I received the confirmation fine but no cancellation. I was able to find a private apartment. Thankful for friends! Was not offered an apology or assistance of any kind. The bed was quite hard and the pillows felt like they have plastic or vinyl liners. Bottled water was provided on my last day not otherwise. Good location, not sound proof from other rooms but street noise was minimal. Nice roof patio. Friendly night staff and cleaner. Would I stay here again? No.

Location location location!

I really enjoyed my stay here. I was in one of the rooms with the Juliet balcony, so it was fun to look out on the street. The room was pretty spacious and had a desk and places to put stuff. The bathroom and shower were great and there was a bathroom fan too. But it is right down the street from the beautiful cathedral and right in the heart of the historic Center, so this is great! The one downside with the great view, is that could hear street noise. But I will take that to have the view. The breakfast that is included is pretty grim. I would say they should just not bother including A breakfast if it is going to bring down the atmosphere of the stay.

Nice rooms, great location.

The location is wonderful and our room for 4 nights was fine although dark as no exterior opening. Super clean, nice bathroom and fairly comfortable beds. Oddly, the pillows made crunchy noises as you moved.....not a deal breaker for me. The staff were great and spoke a bit of English. The weak point is the continental breakfast. It is very minimal with weak coffee and powdered creamer. Still, at this good price you can just seek any nearby restaurant.

I agree with "good value" and especially for the money

A stop over at Morelia on the way to Guanajuato turned into a two night visit. We enjoyed Centro Morelia and stayed longer and we thought the hotel was in a great location and our room was very nice. Our room in Hotel Historia was located on the back side of the building away from the street. It was quiet and had a window that opened onto the interior above the courtyard that has an opaque ceiling so it does not get rain or weather, but allows natural light. This hotel is a good remake of an old building and that's what we wanted. It is located one block back from the main boulevard so misses the heavy street noise and congestion. Our room had two comfortable double beds, a nice bathroom and overall was well appointed and very clean. The service staff was friendly and helpful. A coffee, tea and juice service with cookies in the interior courtyard area on the first floor was pleasant, but not a substitute for a real meal. There is a closed restaurant at the roof top terrazza that was available for our use and we picked up our own snacks and beverages and had a private happy hour. The location for seeing the central area, building, parks and sights was excellent, an easy walk to the first corner and you're there; and plenty of restaurants available just around that corner. This is not a high end or 5 star hotel, but very pleasant and a great value for the money. We would recommend it if you don't require the 5 star treatment. We arrived at Morelia by bus at the Central de Autobuses and took a "cambi" a mini van version of a local bus service that took us right to the street corner for the hotel. Couldn't have been easier. Just walk off the bus service property and look for the cambi pick up area and one that goes to "Centro" or just get a taxi at the bus station, but you have to get a ticket first, the taxis don't pick up willy-nilly, there is a system.
