Very good stay!

We had a very good stay at Aurora. The best bits were the friendly staff who were very attentive and helpful. They helped us book a taxi and let us check in early. The little private beach is beautiful. Although we didn’t use it, the pool was lovely with some sun beds to use. The only thing making our stay 4* rather than 5* is that in our apartment there wasn’t aircon in the bedroom making it a little uncomfortable, and the aircon in the main room didn’t work properly. It did the job but the swing feature didn’t work. The food was ok and breakfast was ok. The cocktails were a little weaker than some we have had at other hotels, but everything was good enough. We really enjoyed our stay overall and would probably come back for a day if we visit Corfu again.

Out of their way to be rude

The proprietors of this hotel seem to have missed their vocation-they aspire to be prison wardens but they are trapped in the hospitality industry. Never in 50 years of global travel have I been treated with such authoritarian rudeness. We were chased off the dinner terrace before we had a chance to finish our expensive wine with our dinner and sought refuge in our room where we were chatting quietly with the door open to allow fresh air through the room when another officious staff member insisted we close our door. We were at least 3 metres from the corridor listening in disbelief when she told us that “she HAD THE AUTHORITY to throw us out onto the street”. 11pm! Needless to say on the following day we took the earliest opportunity to hit the road and find better hospitality elsewhere.

Lovely hotel

Small hotel that improves each year. The staff are friendly and the food is very good. Has it's own beach with 14 sunbeds and a beach bar run by friendly Flotini. The views are superb and one morning we saw 4 dolphins swimming just 200 yards out.

Does what it satys on the tin

The Hotel: Clean, tidy, utilitarian, did what it said on the tin. It was the end of the season and some repairs were necessary but nothing that caused and issue. There was an electric socket hanging off the wall in our room which I didn’t use! The main issue was for the first five days of a ten day stay we had no hot water. The hotel manager refused to believe us saying we were just trying to shower at the wrong time of day and other excuses. Finally we managed to get a chamber maid to check and then they had to fix it. The weather was hot but not hot enough for freezing showers. I was very upset and angry at their complete lack of customer care. The Staff: Bar service was average, the team were a little abrupt. Obviously from the above the only member of staff who was helpful was the lovely chamber maid. Generally they all seemed like they just wanted to go home. The Beach Bar: Fabulous and so was the lovely lady who ran it. Sadly I cannot remember her name but she’ll know who she is if I say terrified of lizards. The Beach: Small and gravelly. Most people opted for those neoprene swimming shoes as the sea bead is stony until you get a bit further out. The snorkelling is good with lots of fish. One of the cleanest beaches I’ve seen and no rubbish in the sea either. It gets the sun all day but in September it goes over the hill about 4pm. However you can if you wish see sun rise from the beach, quite spectacular.

10 days in September the sun

We arrived at nearly midnight to a warm greeting from the owner Evi who booked us in and sorted the air conditioning for us. For the next 10 days we enjoyed the pool and the superb small private beach and what was a "fly and flop" break for us. The food was tasty, varied and at a reasonable price as were the range of drinks (we sampled all the beers, winds and cocktails). The service was brilliant either from Evi, Fotini who ran the beach bar or the gents at the main bar (Kosmos and Alexis). We booked a couple of trips through the hotel - the jeep safari was great as was the boat trip. One trip was cancelled by the provider but Evi sorted out the refund for us. The location was also great as the bus into Corfu Town was very good and cheap from the bus stop down the road. In short amazing. We can't wait to go back next year.
