WORST HOTEL ON THE ISLAND

This may be a little bit long but worth the read especially if you plan on paying the kind of money we did. 6 people 1 suite with two rooms and another room next door. The suite started out nice then a tiny leak in the bathroom happened, a small leak became a waterfall. We complained to manager and they constantly sent either maintenance up who would NOT fix the problem(but stated the room above is probably flooded out) or housekeeping to clean up the water.(who also stated the ceiling was going to fall on us because of how wet and crumbly it has become) In the middle of the night my friend slipped on the buckets of water on the floor and cut her arm. Not one person asked her if she wanted to go to hospital, they were rude acting like we were just spoiled brats complaining about the room.(we are in our 40's mind you)We had to use all of our towels to clean up the water and then they refused to bring up more towels for us, no wash cloths ,no hand towels .The beds are hard as a rock barely a blanket and the pillows were like the kind they give you at daycare. Lena the head housekeeper took pictures and said she was going to show them to the manager. We asked her if you paid $3000 for this room would you be happy with this? Her answer was hell no.!! The bathroom mirror looked like someone was murdered in there it had red blood marks all over and they could not be cleaned off. Even Lena asked what that was as she took photos. We informed the hotel staff we were not trying to sue anyone just wanted the leak fixed and we would be happy, you would think they would do anything to fix this situation. NOPE ,NO apology NO room comp, NO bottle of champagne nothing but ignorance and disgust for us complaining. The general manager refused to come up to the room to see what we were talking about. We had to meet her in the lobby and she acted liked she was not informed again no apology No room change nothing. We come to find out from another guest they moved the people upstairs who room was flooded but never us. There were 4 Great servers in this place! James and Monalisa in the buffett, Kendrick in the steak house all excellent servers! Cynteach in housekeeping pleasant says hello helps you with anything you need. The outside Bar tenders are crap, drinks are horrible, they are rude barely want to wait on you. Swim up bar closed. There was a 12:00AM curfew as if Covid -19 does not exist after 12 AM. I understand people don't tip at an all inclusive which you should but we informed them at the serve we will tip still ignorant. After this review if you decide to stay at this hotel that even the locals don't recommend one word of advice SAFE. USE THE SAFE. House keeping steals. I had a $10 lipstick brand new in the cup in my bathroom along with mascara and toothpaste and my tooth brush. when I returned from the pool my toothbrush was moved and the lipstick was gone. it was reported to staff. I know the lipstick was there in the cup because it was witnessed by my friend that it was there. When we returned from dinner the lipstick was on the bed.!! Really?? unless this hotel is haunted things do not land in other locations. I know it was a $10 lipstick but it was the point after being treated as horrible as we were now you added salt to our wound. The room was supposed to be decorated for my birthday it was rose petals and three balloons with one popped on the bed. We paid for cake to brought up and they never did that untill we called down 5 times. Locals recommend the Baha Mar or Atlantis. Better service and amenities.
A pleasure that we'll enjoy again

My hubby and I were looking forward to visiting Nassau for the first time and we are Riu fans so it was without a doubt that we would stay at Riu Paradise Island. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Chico and he was very welcoming. No Chico you can't have our conch salad. lol. Check-in was on the slow side. It would be great, if as part of the pre-check in, guests are asked to scan in passports, etc. it would save sometime. We got there around 4pm, so there were quite a few guests in front of us checking in. When we did get to the front we had the pleasure of checking in with Magnolia, she was awesome and since this isn't our first rodeo, we had all our documents out to reduce the time we spent at the desk. Our room was 719 and the view was beautiful, we got the pool and ocean in one. Marvin took all our belongings to the room and again no complaints on the customer services. He too was very welcoming.
The humidity is real. The minute you open the door, the mirror gets fogged. But we loved to hear the sound of the ocean, so we would just wipe down the mirror when needed. We didn't make it an issue. Also whoever our housekeeper was, we love you! Our room was always clean, our towel art on one day included my husband's hat. it was a pleasant surprise. thank you for taking care of us.
We unpacked, showered, changed and headed down to check out the pool and have dinner at Atlantis the buffet restaurant that's open for both breakfast and dinner. For dinner our hostess, Mona Lisa, was a darling. She made sure our wine glasses were never empty and gave us some great ideas of things to do while we were there. At that point we decided is Mona Lisa was there when we came back, we would sit in her section!
The night after dinner, we checked out Calypso, for the night entertainment and also the location of the 24hr bar. We didn't stay very long because we wanted to check out the casino at Atlantis.
Next day, we had breakfast at Atlantis where Sharon was our hostess. Sharon kept my mimosas coming and I loved that she was attentive to all her guests. There was a wide selection for breakfast and I loved that. I'm a huge egg over easy fan and I was able to get that along with a decent fruit selection. There was everything from a continental to southern to Caribbean options. There was no way, one could say there wasn't anything there to eat.
We spent the entire day moving between the pool and the beach. My girl Shaquila always made sure that the rum punch (with extra rum) was flowing. She is the best. If you are at the pool, sit in her area, she really makes you feel you are on vacay and we enjoyed the fact that we rarely had to go to the pool bar. Her presence was missed when she wasn't there for sure. Donny thank you for hooking me up with the Bahamian version of my fav cocktail an old fashion. I'll be back for more of that. TIP for the pool, bring a tumbler so your can have a big drink instead of a tiny cup drink. If you're a pool pro, get to the pool early and mark your chairs. We were able to get our spot everyday because we would put our towels down on chairs at 8am everyday. lol.
We loved the beach! the downside I think everyone talks about are the vendors that won't leave you alone. So we spent move of the time in the water when we were on the beach lol. The water is so clear and just beautiful.
We never made it to lunch at the Steakhouse because that Jerk Hut! My, my, my. It's right by the pool and didn't require us to get dressed to eat. just wear your mask to grab a plate full or jerk chicken or pork or both! We ate it everyday. Wouldn't change it for the world. So can't comment. on the lunch buffet because we never made it there. lol.
Everyone who hosted us for breakfast like Rando and especially Sheldon who helped us. out when the supervisor Lamarco would ignore us sitting there to attend to the ladies sitting next to us when we didn't even have silverware to eat. Sheldon to the rescue. thank you!
We had dinner at the Steakhouse (server Cindy was great) and Kulinarium and both meals were delicious. Since they don't take reservations you can either get there early and stand in line or get there a little later and grab a buzzer and come back. the second option makes more sense. Again this is not our first rodeo, so we usually grab a buzzer, go up to the room and get dress and come back down in time. The usual wait time is around 30-45 mins. That method hasn't failed us as yet.
Our last night of dinner in the buffet, we had 2 great young men as our servers (Tahj and Tyrineco), super friendly, well mannered and had some great recommendations for things we could get into that night. Thank you guys.
We arranged for a private romantic dinner on our last night.....let me tell you...this is worth every single dollar! OMG from the service we received from Kenny And Tenero to every single course...we were blown away. I had the lobster and my. hubby had the surf and turf and we both were completely impressed. My hubby loved the cheesecake dessert and he's not even a cheesecake fan. He pretty much ate the whole thing later on that night in the room. lol. We couldn't finish most of our meal and Kenny & Tenero made arrangements to have it delivered to our rooms. Nothing but love for them for doing that for us.
The Calypso at night always had something going on. And the DJ would have a pretty descent mix for the crowd. The bartenders always tried their best to make drinks you desired. The alcohol available was mostly local rum, whiskey, vodka etc with a few brands that maybe familiar but you really can't go. wrong. My hubby fell in love with the Kalik light beer, which a Bahamian beer.
We visited the coffee shop almost everyday, before we went up to the room after being in the pool all day and before dinner. The tuna sandwiches and the smoked salmon sandwiches were delicious. We had lattes as well and they were great in the morning and evening.
I had an appointment at the spa and was fortunate enough to have Amica as my masseuse and she was such a joy. She chat through my entire session and she just made me feel extra relaxed and extremely comfy. I only want her next time!
Now don't get me wrong there were snags and attitudes along the ways that won't be mentioned because these adults don't need to be mentioned. But when we addressed our concerns it was immediately addressed. No place is ever 100% perfect but the good outweighed the bad 90-10 and that's a plus for us.
We want to thank Angela for helping make all the arrangements for room delivery before we arrived as well as for the romantic dinner. Thank you!
Crystal.....Amazing! Thank you for the tour, for taking my concerns seriously, for assisting to fix it and for understanding. March sis forever! Thank you.
Chef - when I spoke to you and you immediately resolved the issue, that means a lot. There are times guests have concerns and they are never heard, you did hear and fixed it. Thank you. My eggs were perfect going forward. Thank you. And the fruits were yummy!
Overall the experience was a 4 out of 5. The only reason we didn't do 5 out of 5 is because most of the Front Desk staff and some other employees need additional customer service training. We'll be back for sure!
Safety: There are sanitizing stations everywhere. There is no reason not to use it. Masks are required in all common areas. TIP: schedule your covid test towards the closing time, there is no line, we were in and out in less than 15 mins and by the time we went downstairs we had the results.
Thought: Please tip the staff, especially the ones that go above and beyond and are on point and able to satisfy all your needs, it means a lot and goes a long way. And when there are already 4 people in the elevator don't try to overcrowd it, we're still in a pandemic people!
Don't forget to take the elevator to the 15th floor and check out the roof top view at sunset or sunrise. #memorable

This was our second stay. We enjoyed the first trip so we came again. Staff is very accommodating and pleasant. Food at the restaurants and buffet is good. Close to the Atlantis if you want to go to the casino. I would not suggest spending your money on a pedicure at the spa. Although the staff was very pleasant the pedicure was not worth $90. No massaging chair, no real foot tub. Just one of those home foot tubs you plug in. Water wasn’t very warm. No foot massage. No hot stones. It was less than what I do on my own at home. Please don’t waste your money on a bad pedicure. I was truly shocked that a resort would offer this for the price they charge.
Birthday visit. Still here while writing this.

So far so good. 2nd day here, staff very pleasant, stand restaurant host so far is Miss Richardson ( affectionately called Sugar). She is really really outgoing. Very patient when you are asking questions, waits for you to finish before answering.
Gives great recommendations on where to find what you want. Even when she is busy she deals with everyone unhurriedly. Amazing attribute. Go see CJ (Coconut Joe) on the beach, if you want real coconut water, where else can you get a refill of Pina-colada. ...more to come.

My 2 friends and I went for 4 nights. We are all 50 and pretty picky! I don't know why people are writing poor reviews. The place is beautiful; directly on the beach. It's not a huge resort so if that's what you're looking for, stay at Atlantis or BahaMar. We visited both of those resorts. Both are beautiful but we prefer a smaller hotel experience. Everyone is nice!! My only complaint (like others on here) was the volume of the DJ at the pool. We had no trouble getting into the formal restaurants. Yes, you may have to wait in line for a brief time, but they bring you drinks! We definitely plan to go back!
