Pay not to stay!!

Avaliou em 1 de novembro de 2020

A skata hole hotel that nothing works. Never been upgraded since the time of Philip's son Alexander when he fought the Persians. Breakfast it's ok if you are a refugee, hungry, thirsty and lost in a far away land. If you want to pay for the view go sleep in the tent outside with the bears or the stray dogs. If you stay there a night or eat their food you will come to the same opinion as I. Good luck!

Out of date

Avaliou em 10 de outubro de 2020

We stayed 5 nights in October 2020. At that time the hotel is simply not geared for guests. The hotel is isolated and therefore the promised shuttle for town is vital. The service was not operated. The pool was empty. Poor breakfast. Internet did not work in the rooms most of the time, although we asked every day. There were hardly any guests, which made the stay unpleasant. Facilities are old. There was a mosquitos problem. We had to fight them every night before sleeping. It may looked better in August. We would not recommend or come again.

Excellent Hotel

Brilliant hotel from start to finish. Reception staff very helpful and welcoming. Pool staff excellent including the 2 life guards who you could have a laugh with. Girl at pool bar was brilliant also serving us '2 beers every hour haha'. Restaurant staff great too and food very Greek and tasty and good value. Thank you for the week from irish couple:)

A reasonable quality hotel

Most Greek hotels seem rough around the edges and this is no exception. Plus any hotel with no wifi reception in the room (no. 110) should only be a three star. That said, the dinner was good as was breakfast and there is a cafe downstairs (price list attached). The local team POAK FC (#2) were playing Patathanikos (#4) and it was full with a big screen - POAK lost :( So all in all I would recommend but don't expect too many frills. Tip: If you can visit the tombs at nearby Vergina - fantastic!

Old and shabby

I stayed at Hotel Philippion for a couple of nights in September 2019. They claim to be a 4 star hotel, but I think this must have been a few decades ago. The hotel is old and worn, not very clean and the staff is uninspiring and even unhelpful at times. The hotel is quite far from the city center and is therefore not ideal if you want to explore Thessaloniki. The hotel is situated in a quite nice forrest, but the forrest is full of wild dogs that howl all night. The hotel claims a beautiul garden and pool area, but the garden was closed for the guests while I was there. If you are going to Thessaloniki, don't stay at the Hotel Philippion!
