Wouldn’t stay again

Stayed here for two nights through Day of the Dead Festival. Room was on bottom floor. Room smelt quite bad when we opened the door. We aired it out by leaving the door open for a good couple of hours. Only sheets on beds but blankets in cupboard. Small bathroom with a shower that had hot water in a trickle form. Took 30mins to was shampoo from my hair after a day of walking in the heat. Glass shower screen was sticky so was afraid to close the door in case it cracked or shattered. The guy on reception was friendly and helpful. If you aren’t fussy then this hotel is for you.

Avoid if you can

1. The rooms have no covers only sheets. If you don't have a sleeping bag you freeze. 2. Avoid rooms on the street it is as if you are sleeping on the high way. 3. The television does not work. 4. All in all an awful place that certainly dos not deserve 3 stars

Nice rooms / no hot water

The staff at reception were very friendly and helpful and gave us a spacious/clean room at a discount as the first we viewed smelled of cigarette smoke. Unfortunately the hot water in our room did not work in the evening, then the water was completely cut out the next day. We informed reception on departure, but were offered no discount - which is OK as we already had one for the larger room. Advice is to check the room and the water situation before booking!

If not picky, the place is alright

Cons: traffic noise, dogs barking next property, hot water not hot, thin walls Pros: close enough to the center, clean enough, doable, good wifi If you are a picky neat freak than no, don't do it. It's budget with ware and tear noticeable. Paid 40 usd, probably worth 30.

Great spot for the unfussy traveler, awesome breakfast!

I stayed at Parador Crespo in Dec 2013 for a few days. It's very close to Oaxaca's historic center, the zocalo, market shopping, etc. Right across the street are the steps to get up to the Auditorio Guelaguetza and the accompanying panoramic view of the city--a nice way to get your blood moving to start the day! My room was basic but comfortable (bed, nightstand, small desk & chair, toilet & enclosed shower, wall mounted TV, plenty of outlets. I booked at a very busy time so wasn't able to get a room with a view but there was still a decent amount of light coming in. A lot of the rooms are currently being repainted and updated so with a little advanced planning you would have a little more choice. Front desk staff is super friendly and always willing to help. The restaurant downstairs has delicious and hearty breakfast options, particularly if you need eggs to get going in the morning. One of the few places in Oaxaca that I found huevos revueltos (scrambled eggs) to be readily available and very affordable. Bottom line: if you're looking for super fancy, this probably isn't it. If you're looking for a conveniently-located place to lay your head while exploring oaxaca, Parador Crespo is a good bet.
