Pet friendly means barking dog all night

Had a horrible experience as apparently this hotel in the middle of downtown is pet friendly...and a nice little dog barked its fool head off at 4:00 am...no sleep. No one did anything about it. The breakfast is nothing to brag about...muffins, coffee and juice...that's about it. Looks like they took a nice old hotel, gutted it, and jammed in as many rooms as possible. The beds are comfy and the linens are nice, and it's close to restaurants & downtown, that's about it.

Room Far Too Small

Very Very small room, never seen a room as small as this one. Nonetheless nicely appointed. Linens were very nice, bed super comfortable. Bathroom recently renovated, modern and clean. Hotel staff very friendly. Overpriced for the size of the room. Continental breakfast was minimal at best. Prepackaged muffins, croissants, fruit cups! Coffee was decent but we basically had to go out to breakfast anyway. The limited parking is a HUGE issue. We checked in around 3:30 and had a spot in the tiny lot, went out to dinner and to a show at Rama. We arrived back at the hotel after midnight in a blinding blizzard only to have nowhere to park. They directed us to an offsite lot, two blocks away-not a big deal unless it is late at night and a blizzard out. And what about guests with limited mobility? The next morning we had to schlep our bags to the offsite parking, around 8 inches of snow had fallen. While cleaning off my car I discovered a $50 parking ticket, so I had to make my way back to the hotel again to present it to them. They said they would take care of it, but I have kept a photo of it just in case as it will go on my license if it's not paid. Upon attempting to exit the unplowed parking lot, the city went by on the street with the plow and a huge windrow blocked me from exiting. As I sat in my car contemplating who to call about my dilemma, a kind Orillia citizen pulled over, asked me if I was blocked in and proceeded to get a shovel out of his trunk and dig me a path out of the parking lot. He was certainly the bright spot to my morning! Would I stay at this hotel again? No, the room was way way too small for my liking, breakfast was a joke and the parking issue was inconvenient.

I wouldn‘t even go to Orillia. It‘s a beautiful place at the lake, but that‘s it. Very quiet, very boring but the hotel was noisy the whole night. Very busy with party-people who slam the doors every 5 minutes. The very very small rooms and breakfast was a shock for us. No thanks

We booked this hotel on a whim after arriving early to our originally booked hotel, and witnessing an altercation between the front desk staff and a patron - so we elected to cancel that reservation, and rebooked with the Champlain Waterfront Hotel. The pictures looked fantastic, and we thought it looked super cool upon arrival. First we parked in the back, and were immediately accosted by someone that our car was crooked - fine. Fixed the car in the EMPTY parking lot, and tried to shrug off the nonsense. We were greeted by a lovely front desk host, and were told we were unfortunately too early to check in, but that she'd call us as soon as the room was ready - we were super early, so not a problem. The lobby was beautiful, and the ambiance was fantastic. She kept her promise, and called us within 45 mins of our stopping by. We checked in slightly before 3, and upon entering our room were hit a wall of heat - our room was literally 34 degrees, and the heat was on - we checked in August 27th - the heat definitely should not have been on. We closed the curtains and jacked the ac up, and cooled the room down within the hour. Fine. Whatever. My husband in the meantime noticed the top cover ontop of the duvet looked like it had footprints on it. We brushed them off and said meh maybe it's just a stain. Unfortunately however when we pulled the covers back we were met with multiple layers of yellow bodily fluid stains from the duvet and all the way down to the mattress pad. I went to the front desk and asked to be moved rooms or to have housekeeping come to the room - there were no rooms available to switch, and housekeeping was gone for the day. The front desk woman was beyond amazing, and went to find us new bedding immediately and helped us strip the filth. She left a note on our file, and said that she would ask that the manager speak with us at checkout. I was assured that bedding wad changed between patrons- but I have my doubts because the makeup face cloth in the washroom also had hair on it - obviously not changed out between room cleanings. We spent the night, no real hiccups, but the next morning the manager was not present, and we were assured he would call us. It's now been 7 days since our stay at this hotel, and I don't anticipate a call. I would never recommend this hotel, nor would we return. Koodos to Margaret for being an amazing person, but the hotel and the management suck.

Friendly and helpful check in personnel . Nice lobby. Recently refinished bedroom. Very large TV. View of waterfront. Good pub/restaurant adjoining. Bathroom nicely and recently remodeled. Nice tile flooring and shower. Room was ver clean The only downside would be the limited on site parking.
